Lattice Now Shipping MachXO2 PLDs In Production
First Member of the "Do-it-All" PLD Family Fully Qualified and Shipping in Production
HILLSBORO, OR - APRIL 4, 2011 - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that the MachXO2™ LCMXO2-1200 device has been qualified and released to production. The LCMXO2-1200 is one of six members of the MachXO2 PLD family, offering designers of low-density PLDs an unprecedented mix of low cost, low power and high system integration in a single device. Built on a low power 65-nm process, LCMXO2-1200 devices feature 1280 look-up tables (LUTs) and offer static power as low as 70uW. These devices have a rich feature set that includes embedded memory, PLL, user Flash memory (UFM) and popular functions such as I2C, SPI and timer/counter that have been hardened into the device.
"We are pleased to achieve this milestone in just four months since the MachXO2 family was launched in the market," said Shantanu Dhavale, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Low Density Solutions. "Ultra-low power, combined with a differentiated and unique product feature set at competitive price points, is driving the rapid evaluation of MachXO2 devices at hundreds of customers in a variety of end markets including consumer, communications, computing, industrial and medical."
Product Options for Maximum Flexibility
The LCMXO2-1200 devices are offered in two options. LCMXO2-1200ZE devices operate off a nominal 1.2V power supply, and support system performance up to 60MHz. With power as low as 70uW and packages as small as 2.5mmx2.5mm, the MachXO2-1200ZE devices are optimized for cost-sensitive, low power consumer design applications such as smart phones, GPS devices and PDAs.
LCMXO2-1200HC devices operate off a nominal 3.3V or 2.5V power supply, and support system performance up to 150MHz. Offering up to 207 user I/O and a robust design solution (instant-on, non-volatile, input hysteresis and single-chip), these devices are ideal for control applications in end markets such as telecommunications infrastructure, computing, industrial and medical equipment.
Free Design Tools and Reference Designs Accelerate Development Time
Customers can start designing with MachXO2 devices today using Lattice Diamond™ v1.1 software, which can be downloaded for free from the Lattice website at http://www.latticesemi.com/latticediamond/downloads/.
In order to enable quick and efficient design and deployment of commonly used functions in system and consumer applications, more than 20 reference designs using MachXO2 devices are available for free download from the Lattice website at http://www.latticesemi.com/products/intellectualproperty/aboutreferencedesigns.cfm.
Pricing and Availability
MachXO2 LCMXO2-1200ZE and LCMXO2-1200HC devices are available in both commercial and industrial temperature grade options. These devices are offered in a broad range of low-cost package options including 100-pin TQFP, 144-pin TQFP and 132-pin csBGA. The 256-pin ftBGA and 25-ball WLCSP will be made available during 2011. Pricing for the LCMXO2-1200ZE/HC TQFP100 is $2.00 in typical production volumes. All device members of the MachXO2 family are expected to be shipping in production by the end of 2011.
About the MachXO2 PLD Family
The MachXO2 devices provide designers of low density PLDs an unprecedented mix of low cost, low power and high system integration in a single device. Built on a low power 65-nm process featuring embedded Flash technology, the MachXO2 family delivers a 3X increase in logic density, a 10X increase in embedded memory, more than a 100X reduction in static power to as low as 19uW and up to 30% lower cost compared to the prior generation MachXO™ PLD family. These devices are ideal for control PLD applications in end markets such as telecom infrastructure, computing, high end industrial, high end medical, and low power applications such as smart phones, GPS devices and digital cameras.
