Xylon Releases Complete Development Platform and Toolset for Multi-Camera Surround View Systems
New logicBRICKSTM IP cores enable the development of flexible controllers for automotive Surround View Driver Assistance Systems Using Xilinx® Spartan®-6 FPGAs
ZAGREB, Croatia, April 14, 2011 – Xylon d.o.o., a leading provider of advanced FPGA application development solutions, today announced that it has released the logiVIEW-SVK, a complete development platform and toolset for developers of automotive multi-camera Surround View Driver Assistance (DA) Systems. The logiVIEW-SVK development platform includes the Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA SP605 Evaluation Kit, Xylon’s add-on FMC board supporting camera connections, and four LVDS megapixel automotive camera imagers furnished with extreme wide-angle field of view (FOV) lenses. The accompanying development toolset includes a reference design consisting of evaluation logicBRICKS IP cores, system calibration and application software, as well as full documentation.
The logiVIEW-SVK development kit and toolset enable automotive designers to evaluate the quality of the solution, explore new ideas and methodologies, and jump-start their next highly differentiated Surround View DA System design.
Xylon logicBRICKS IP cores and the flexibility of Xilinx FPGAs allows for modifications at the lowest hardware level which can support ever-changing application requirements. Xylon is able to customize the FPGA design, at a customer’s request, to support, for example, a specific hardware platform, a changed number, type and resolution of camera imagers, sensor fusion, hardware implementation of new algorithms, etc. By changing interface IP cores, Xylon can design the Surround View DA System FPGA controllers to support Ethernet, Gbps LVDS, CVBS, optical and other camera interfaces, without additional silicon components, major redesigns or long development and production cycles.
The provided Surround View DA System FPGA reference design can be used as a self-contained controller, or as the basis for a video imaging co-processor to popular host processors. The portability of Xylon logicBRICKS IP cores across Xilinx FPGA families will enable next generation Surround View DA System implementations with Xilinx Targeted Design Platforms based on the 28nm 7 Series FPGAs and the ZynqTM-7000 Extensible Processing Platform (EPP).
“Xilinx is working closely with our Premier Alliance partner Xylon to develop IP cores and software support for various automotive Targeted Design Platforms,” said Paul Zoratti, Senior Automotive System Architect and Driver Assistance Platforms Manager at Xilinx. “The jointly developed Driver Assistance Surround View platform showcases a very competitive, flexible and scalable FPGA solution for current and next generation automotive designs.”

About the logiVIEW Perspective Transformation and Lens Correction Image Processor
The logiVIEW Perspective Transformation and Lens Correction Image Processor IP core is the key IP core for the design of the Surround View DA and similar multi-camera systems. This IP core removes fish eye lens distortions, makes perspective corrections to all camera video inputs and stitches the resulting single image in real-time. A programmable homographic transformation matrix enables different perspective transformations, such as rotating, resizing, translating, cropping, as well as simultaneous combinations of all of these transformations.
The Surround View toolset includes system calibration software with a preview option, which provides a quick and easy way to setup the logiVIEW IP core for specific types of fish eye lenses and camera offsets caused by the different vehicle shapes. The calibration software exports files which describe the whole imaging system and which can be used by the control application software.
logiVIEW is a highly versatile IP core which, together with other Xylon logicBRICKS IP cores, can be used for different camera based applications, such as a medical endoscopy, pipeline inspection systems, surveillance systems, automotive heads-up displays (HUD), etc.

About logicBRICKS IP Library
Xylon’s IP cores, named logicBRICKS, enable users to quickly develop embedded graphics and video solutions based on Xilinx FPGAs. All logicBRICKS IP cores come with detailed documentation, software support and reference designs. The IP cores are fully supported by the Xilinx Platform Studio and the EDK integrated software solution. FPGA designers can setup logicBRICKS configurations through a GUI, optimize feature sets and control the utilization of FPGA resources, and in a drag & drop fashion, implement Xilinx SoC without hand coding.
Pricing & Availability
The logiVIEW-SVK is available for €4,950: http://www.logicbricks.com/Products/logiVIEW-SVK.aspx. Please contact Xylon for lead time information.
