LG Electronics Licenses ARM Processor Technology to Drive Platform Strategy in Home and Mobile Markets
Comprehensive license agreement reinforces strategic partnership with access to latest semiconductor IP, including ARM® Cortex-A15 MPCore™ processor and ARM® Mali™-T604 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
Cambridge, UK – 26th April 2011 – ARM today announced a new licensing agreement with LG Electronics that provides access to the high performance, low-power ARM®Cortex™ processor and ARM® Mali™ GPU families. This includes the Cortex-A15 MPCore and Cortex-A9 MPCore processors, as well as the ARM Mali-T604GPUand ARM CoreLink™ interconnect and system IP.The comprehensive license will reinforce LG Electronics’ already strong technology leadership and will be used to drive the company’s platform strategy in applications that include digital TV, set top boxes (STB), mobile phones, tablets and smart grids.

LG, who first licensed ARM technology in 1995, has incorporated ARM processors across its product lines, from handsets to Digital TVs.
