ClariPhy Names Broadcom Executive as CEO and President
Nariman Yousefi Brings New Level of Management Expertise to Fast Growing Supplier of Optical Networking ICs
IRVINE, Calif. -- August 17, 2011 -- ClariPhy Communications, Inc., a leading developer of ultra-high speed, mixed-signal digital signal processing (MXSP) SoCs for coherent optical networks, announced today that Nariman Yousefi has joined the company as CEO and president.
Mr. Yousefi comes to ClariPhy with extensive management experience developed during a highly successful 17-year tenure at Broadcom Corporation, a leading developer of communications ICs. He joined Broadcom in 1994 as a founding member of its Enterprise Networking Group, taking on engineering and executive management positions with increasing levels of responsibility and playing an instrumental role in establishing the company as the world’s leading supplier of Ethernet ICs. In 2007 Mr. Yousefi became Senior VP of Broadcom’s Enterprise Networking Group, with full P&L responsibility for over $1 billion in annual revenue and oversight of a broad portfolio of networking products including Ethernet switching, controller and physical layer products, optical solutions, storage products, security and embedded processors.
“We’re very pleased to welcome Nariman to the team,” said Dr. Paul Voois, co-founder and former CEO of ClariPhy. “His successful track record in managing rapid revenue growth and broad product portfolios make him the ideal CEO to lead the company as we scale to address significant market opportunities for optical networking ICs at 40G, 100G and beyond.”
“I look forward to working with the management team to ramp our existing products into volume production while accelerating the development of 100G and beyond coherent SoCs and expanding the breadth and reach of our product roadmap in 28nm CMOS,” said Mr. Yousefi.
Yousefi is replacing Dr. Paul Voois, a company co-founder who previously served as ClariPhy’s CEO and President. Dr. Voois will remain with the company, focusing on corporate strategy and new product management.
“We are very grateful for Dr. Voois’ outstanding leadership and accomplishments as CEO,” said Mr. Yousefi. “He deserves tremendous credit for building a world-class international team that has delivered exciting new advances in 10G and 40G optical networking SoCs. In the process he has positioned ClariPhy to become a prominent supplier in the optical networking IC market.”
The company also announced today that it has expanded the funding round announced two months ago with a $4.5 million investment from an existing strategic partner, bringing the total size of the round to $18.5 million.
“I am particularly excited that one of our existing strategic partners has endorsed our strategy and roadmap with this investment,” said Mr. Yousefi. “I believe this is a testament to the ever growing industry confidence in ClariPhy’s unique capabilities as a semiconductor supplier targeting the rapid surge in deployment of current and next generation optical coherent networks.”-
