High-Performance Implementation to Merge Broadcast and Online Content Playback with Interactivity
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 7, 2011 -- Trident Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRID), a leading provider of set-top box and TV semiconductor solutions, today unveiled a new generation of high-performance set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) designed for the worldwide satellite, cable, and IPTV markets. Featuring support for Android, online content playback, advanced web browsing, and 3D graphics, the new TSC100™ STB family delivers all the key features demanded by leading operators in a single and powerful STB platform.

About the Trident TSC100 Family of STB SoCs
The TSC100 family of SoC products features Trident's latest generation video decoder technology to natively support the latest codec technologies including SVC (scalable video codec), MVC (multi-view video coding), VP8, Sorenson and other standards. The chip also integrates a SATA interface for DVR functionality, a 10/100 Ethernet PHY for connected TV and IP-based applications, and dual DVB-S2 or DVB-C demodulators to further optimize the BOM cost for network operator applications.
The Trident TSC100 family incorporates advanced security schemes natively in hardware, including NSK2, NOCS 1.2, CSA3, AES, RSA, baseband watermarking, and Cryptography Research's CryptoFirewall technology. Powered by a 1700 DMIPS ARM Cortex-A9 processor, the TSC100 family is capable of advanced software solutions including the latest releases of Android optimized for the ARM architecture. In addition, the TSC100 family integrates an advanced 3D graphics engine by Imagination Technologies supporting OpenGL ES2.0.
With the TSC100 family of SoCs, satellite and cable operators will be able to quickly and effectively develop high-performance and multimedia-rich products, optimize manufacturing and operational logistics, and improve time-to-market by leveraging the TSC100 family's satellite, cable and IPTV features and performance to address digital TV standards around the world.
