Analog Bits Expands SERDES Product Line to Include SONET Grade IP
Lowest power; supports numerous jitter stringent communication protocols
Mountain View, CA., October 3, 2011 – Analog Bits, the Integrated Clocking and Interface IP leader, has added a SONET Grade Programmable Low Power IP to its expanding SERDES product line.
This new addition broadens Analog Bits’ SERDES IP product line to serve switches and ATM applications for central office telecommunication equipment. In addition to standard protocols, such as PCI Express, SATA, and XAUI, the new SERDES also supports protocols including SONET/SDH (OC3/12/48), OTU-1, STM(1/4/16), SPI 4.2, SFI 4.2, SDI-SD/SDI-HD, and SDI-3G.
The pin-configured macro uses standard logic process devices and exhibits exceptional input sensitivity, input jitter tolerance and low output jitter. Its low pin count configuration and compact form factor – 0.172mm2 active silicon area per lane – makes it suitable for a variety of flip-chip and wire-bond packages. The serial client interfaces can connect directly to SFPs and operate over a wide range of frequencies to support many datacom, telecom and video protocols from 125 Mb/s up to 12.5 Gb/s.
"To deliver the industry’s first any service, any port, single-chip OTN Muxponder solution, we had very strict development requirements.” said George Apostol, executive vice president, Engineering and Operations and Chief Technology Officer, Exar Corporation. “Working with Analog Bits we were able to meet these requirements for SONET grade SERDES while maintaining our low power initiative.”
“We are pleased to see Exar leverage our SONET SERDES IP that is setting them apart with highly differentiated products in the market.” explains Mahesh Tirupattur, Executive Vice President, Analog Bits. “Our commitment to the industry continues by not only developing novel and innovative circuits but also making them production ready, reducing their time-to-market.”
