Intrinsic-ID launches Confidentio Security Processing Unit (SPU) for mobile applications
World’s first integrated IP solution for secret key storage and AES based cryptography
Eindhoven, The Netherlands – October 18, 2011 - Intrinsic-ID announces Confidentio, a securely integrated and optimized IP solution that combines Intrinsic-ID’s flagship product Quiddikey™ for secret key storage with a FIPS-197 compliant AES cryptographic IP core.
“The trend to application convergence and internet connectivity imposes higher levels of security in many electronic systems today”, said Tony Picard, vice president business development at Intrinsic-ID. “This trend is particularly noticeable in the mobile phone and tablet market space, where security has become a pivotal requirement for content protection and secure payment transactions.”
Confidentio leverages the superior security and anti-tamper characteristics of Quiddikey™ in a pre-integrated security processing unit (SPU) IP that can be easily embedded in a mobile application processor, a Secure Digital (SD-) card or SmartCard.
Confidentio offers security processing for content protection, secure payment protection, secure communication channels and secure storage (local memory encryption and/or cloud storage).
Confidentio is the world’s first and only encryption module that has built-in key storage functionality without requiring embedded non-volatile memory, resulting in an extremely small silicon footprint.
“Confidentio relieves electronic system companies from the burden to integrate key storage and other cryptographic cores in a secure way”, said Rene Kohlmann, senior director of Dialog Semiconductor. “As such Confidentio offers a fast-track to security implementations for the fast moving consumer and mobile market.”
Confidentio is available for licensing now:
- as synthesized RTL (netlist) for hardware implementations, including in the smallest technology nodes (40nm and below)
- on Microsemi’s SmartFusion® customizable system-on-chip (cSoC), as well as ProASIC®3, IGLOO and Fusion FPGAs.
- in software version (ported on various embedded CPUs)
About Intrinsic-ID
Intrinsic-ID is recognized as a worldwide leader in security solutions, delivering semiconductor IP and embedded software products based on Hardware Intrinsic Security.
Our solutions revolve around patented Physically Unclonable Function (PUF) technology, where a secret key is extracted like a silicon biometric or fingerprint from silicon hardware directly and only when required.
Attackers have nothing to find because no key is stored nor present in the power down state.
We leverage our security expertise and product offering in several markets and applications, ranging from SmartCards, Automotive, Set-Top Box and Pay-TV applications, Networking & Comms, Mobile, as well as Government and Military applications.
Intrinsic-ID’s security solutions excel by their ease-of-integration in a standard manufacturing flow, their scalability and small area and/or SW footprint which enables mass-scale deployment in cost-sensitive consumer applications.
Intrinsic-ID was founded in 2008 as a spin-out of Royal Philips Electronics and is headquartered in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Its technology and products leverage many years of industrial development at Philips and have received public endorsement by leading electronic companies such as NXP and Microsemi.
