SpringSoft Names Software Industry Veteran Milligan as New VP Corporate Marketing
HSINCHU, Taiwan, December 5, 2011 — SpringSoft, Inc., a global supplier of specialized IC design software, today announced the appointment of electronic design automation (EDA) and embedded software veteran Mark Milligan to the position of Vice President, Corporate Marketing. Based in the company’s North American headquarters in San Jose, California, Milligan will lead global marketing efforts to expand the SpringSoft brand worldwide, enhance customer and ecosystem communications, and reinforce its position as one of the leading suppliers of EDA tools and services.
Milligan brings more than 20 years of experience to SpringSoft through a variety of executive marketing and business development positions at EDA and semiconductor companies, with extensive experience in the areas of system-level design and verification. In addition, he has been an active participant and leader in important industry organizations and consortia that have helped shape the chip design ecosystem, including serving as president of the Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI) while the organization transitioned the language standard to the IEEE.
“Mark brings a new voice and energy to SpringSoft that will be instrumental in positioning the company for continued growth worldwide as we broaden our product line and focus our technological expertise in new areas,” said Johnson Teng, chief operating officer and executive vice president at SpringSoft. “We look forward to his leadership and creative thinking in defining our global communications and marketing strategies, as well as his proven ability to work within the EDA and semiconductor ecosystem to solidify our commitment to industry-wide cooperation and collaboration.”
"Springsoft delivers value to its customers by solving some of the toughest design challenges they face, and as a profitable, public EDA company based in Taiwan, has made exciting investments in its technology pipeline. I'm thrilled to join the company at this juncture to help bring these innovative technology developments to the global market,” commented Milligan.
Milligan has a deep background in EDA marketing and business development. Most recently, he was an executive consultant to Xilinx, assisting with the strategy for customer software and electronic system-level (ESL) development flows using the FPGA leader’s Zynq extensible processing platform. Prior to Xilinx, he was vice president of marketing at VirtualLogix, a supplier of virtualization software for mobile and embedded devices (later acquired by Red Bend Software).
Previously, Milligan was vice president of marketing at CoWare, an early pioneer and leader of ESL methodology and tools, and vice president of marketing for the high-level verification division at Synopsys, where he helped the industry leader in synthesis move into the verification market with the Verilog Compiler Simulator (VCS) and launched its first cloud-computing service. He also served as general manager of the Sunrise Test Systems business unit for Viewlogic, where he worked to establish structured design-for-test (DFT) as a standard methodology in the industry. Milligan has a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
