ZTE Licenses Mentor Graphics Inflexion UI Technology to Develop Advanced 3D Smartphone User Interfaces
WILSONVILLE, Ore., December 5, 2011-Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced that ZTE Mobile Telecom, a global provider of wireless communication terminals, has selected the Mentor® Embedded Inflexion® UI product to develop its next-generation smartphone user interfaces (UIs). ZTE Mobile Telecom is rapidly expanding its smartphone portfolio and the selection of the Inflexion UI platform enables it to meet operator requirements for advanced 2D and 3D Android UIs, while creating customized and differentiated smartphones for the non-operator market.
"It is important that ZTE Mobile Telecom smartphones stand out from the crowd, and using Mentor's Inflexion UI platform will allow us to quickly develop innovative and highly differentiated UIs," said John Chen, CTO and senior vice president of ZTE Mobile Telecom. "We selected Inflexion because it makes the implementation of dynamic UIs on Android quick and easy. As a major supplier to many of the world's biggest cell phone operators, it is important that we can customize the user experience for our operator customers, and Inflexion allows us to do this quickly and efficiently. "
The award-winning Mentor Embedded Inflexion UI product is used by hundreds of embedded system developers across the world to rapidly develop rich, compelling UIs without compromises. The Inflexion product allows developers to quickly implement their UI using a drag-and-drop approach, via the Inflexion UI Express PC tool, and then run this UI on an efficient and powerful engine. The Inflexion UI tool dramatically reduces development effort, and is available on Android, Linux and the Nucleus® operating systems, but is also portable to a wide range of other operating platforms.
"With ZTE Mobile Telecom, Mentor continues its track record of working with many of the world's largest handset manufacturers and their suppliers," said Glenn Perry, general manager of the Mentor Graphics Embedded Software Division. "ZTE Mobile Telecom's selection of our Inflexion UI technology further validates that leading companies can depend on our reliable and innovative technologies and services to remain competitive in today's demanding marketplace."
