Aliathon Ltd. Announces the immediate availability of their 100G OTN Transponder Reference Design For XILINX FPGAs.
Dunfermline, Scotland - February 9th, 2012 -- Aliathon Ltd. today announces the immediate availability of their 100G Transponder FPGA reference design, available for evaluation on the Xilinx Virtex-6 HXT FPGA ML630 Evaluation Kit.
Aliathon’s 100G Transponder offers a complete 100GE - OTU4 datapath utilizing CAUI (100GE) & OTL4.10 (OTU4) optical interfaces. Software control is enabled via Aliathon’s fully featured register interface & ref design MicroBlaze subsystem. Forward Error Correction is available in both GFEC (G.709 7% OH, ~6.7db NECG) or eFEC (~7% OH, 9.35db NECG CI-BCH-3™). See Aliathon’s previous press release for more details on the eFEC technology used.
“Aliathon’s 100G Transponder delivers the best of both the ASSP & FPGA worlds to our clients” say’s Alan McDade, Commercial Director at Aliathon. “Our solution fits effortlessly in to mid-sized Virtex-6 devices and is easily migrated to 7-series (Virtex & Kintex) FPGAs. The IP feature set addresses the architectural needs of the network operators while allowing the network equipment providers to get the highest performance from their systems. The IP & FPGA flexibility allows manipulation of the Transponder suit our customers unique needs while add their own proprietary functionality.”
The target application is the (packet optical) transport of 100GE clients over an OTN network, in essence using the high-quality transmission capability of the OTN to extend the reach of a packet domain.
100G OTN Transponder is the first in a series of new OTN products from Aliathon to address the needs of the next generation, converged optical network.
