SENSIO and TCL announce an agreement for the integration of SENSIO technologies in 3DTVs
HUIZHOU, China and MONTREAL, Canada — July 16th, 2012 — TCL Multimedia Technology Holding Ltd. (TCL) (HKSE: 1070), a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics and SENSIO Technologies Inc. (SENSIO) (TSX-V: SIO), a pioneer in 3D-image processing, today announced the signing of an agreement for the integration of the SENSIO® Hi-Fi 3D and SENSIO® S2D Switch technologies in TCL 3DTVs. This agreement cements the letter of intent (LOI) previously announced last January.
“We are pleased that our consumers will benefit from the superior image quality and effortless interaction solutions offered by SENSIO,” said Dr. Stan HU, Director of Business, Product and New Technology Planning at TCL. “The integration of SENSIO technologies in our 3DTVs definitely adds value to our products and they are key differentiators to remain ahead of the competition. “We are delighted that our association with TCL is moving forward,” said Nicholas Routhier, SENSIO President and CEO. “This agreement with a prominent leader in the industry is a major milestone for SENSIO and it will allow us to start applying our business strategy for the Chinese market. Making our technologies and solutions available to consumers in China is a foremost priority for SENSIO, and we expect this agreement to positively influence our next product offerings for this key market in the near future.”
SENSIO® Hi-Fi 3D is a unique frame-compatible technology for high-fidelity stereoscopic signal processing easily integrated into display products. Developed and refined by SENSIO for more than a decade, and deployed in the field for seven years, this mature technology has been trusted by the biggest names in content creation for pioneering and commercializing live 3D events in cinemas around the world, as well as for high-profile console games and VOD service.
The proprietary SENSIO® S2D Switch, which is protected by US and international patents, enables users to switch viewing mode of a 3D feed from 3D to 2D or between different 3D view modes. It supports the most popular frame-compatible formats covered by HDMI 1.4a, and is used by service providers supporting 3D today: side-by-side (SbS), top-and-bottom (TaB), checkerboard and SENSIO® Hi-Fi 3D.
