Ericsson to provide a complete Bluetooth offer
Apr 24, 2002 - Ericsson Technology Licensing is introducing a new way of packaging different elements needed for Bluetooth implementation. With the Suite concept, Ericsson provides Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Semiconductor manufacturers with comprehensive, state-of-the-art Bluetooth design solutions optimized for integration into mobile computing, communication, and media devices. First to be introduced is the Bluetooth Mobile Phone Suite where new features such as PPEC, a voice improvement feature and the lowest possible power consumption are included.
"We are proud to offer the only complete solution on the market where all the different pieces are included, even the qualification services needed to bring the product to the market," says Maria Khorsand, president of Ericsson Technology Licensing.
So far, Bluetooth wireless technology is only found in high-end mobile phones and a few mid-range phones. This new way of optimizing the functionality for mobile phones makes it possible for OEM's to implement Bluetooth functionality even in low-end mobile phones.
"Our new Product Suite means we are going one step further to integrate our Bluetooth solutions into mass market consumer products," says Maria Khorsand.
Power, space, and budget are important assets, which must be shared between all features when manufacturing an electronic device. Introducing the Bluetooth Mobile Phone Suite is Ericsson's way of offering the mobile phone industry a cost-efficient way to implement Bluetooth functionality.
