Chipus demonstrates silicon proven high performance IPs during Brazilian symposium on microelectronics
September 14, 2012 -- Chipus Microelectronics participated from August 30 to September 2nd as an exhibitor in 'Chip in Brasilia', an international forum held each year in Brazil that gathers professionals from the microelectronics community including academia, industry and government. In its first participation in the exhibition, Chipus presented its portfolio of analog, mixed signal, and RF IPs and demonstrated a few of them.
The first, an ultra low power PMU (CM1311bg) that was already subject of a paper in the same symposium the previous year, gained this time a demonstrator working from the energy provided by a photovoltaic cell. The objective was to show the capacity of sustaining the voltage to feed the circuit in standby mode with very low power consumption.
The second, a demo board for the ZR16 microcontroller was used to show some of its capabilities, such as a 10-bit A/D converter (CM2013ae) and a power driver directly controlling the intensity of a LED. The ZR16 microcontroller was developed in a partnership with SMDH (www.smdh.org) and will enter production volume in 2013.
The third and last, a system comprising a game, an RFID reader and an RFID tag in the form of a ruler, was built to demonstrate an UHF Passive RFID Analog/RF Front-End IP core (CM9011ff). The CM9011ff accompanied by digital processor and memory IPs integrated an RFID tag chip that was attached to the ruler containing a microstrip antenna. The idea was to detect a player carrying a registered ruler in the game area via RFID and activate the game. The player interacted with the game through the Kinetic camera. The chip integration was done by Chipus, and the integrated circuit will enter in full production on Q4'2012. This demonstrator was a joint development with Fisiogames (www.fisiogames.com.br) and sponsored by SEBRAE-SC (www.sebrae.com.br).
