GDA Technologies, Inc. licenses HyperTransport™ IP cores to Hifn for Building Leading Edge Networking Chips.
HyperTransport Cave and HyperTransport Host IP cores from GDA significantly speeds the design of Hifn's most advanced devices
San Jose, Calif. – May 7,2002 – GDA Technologies, Inc, a fast growing supplier of Intellectual Property and Design Services, today announced the licensing of its HyperTransport Cave and HyperTransport Host Intellectual-property (IP) cores to Hifn™. The cores will be used in Hifn's most advanced compression, encryption, and classification chips.
"Hifn has worked closely with GDA's engineering and business teams. We are very impressed with both the quality of GDA's IP offering and the competency of their teams," said John Metzger, vice president of engineering at Hifn." The immediate benefit to Hifn is that we will reduce our time to market by using the GDA cores. However, our customers will also benefit by the ability to design security chips into their products in look-aside or flow-through modes. Using the HyperTransport host and bridging capability will help them gain substantial advantages in scaling their solutions and reducing development time."
"We are delighted that Hifn has chosen GDA as their HyperTransport IP provider," said AG Karunakaran, President of GDA Technologies, Inc. "Having the world's leading network security solution provider as a customer further highlights GDA's commitment to developing and providing world class Intellectual-Property cores."
HyperTransport interconnect technology is a new high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link for integrated circuits, developed to enable the chips inside of high-performance compute devices, networking and communications devices to communicate with each other faster than with existing technologies.
GDA has a broad portfolio of foundry independent IP cores available, including: HyperTransport Tunnel, HyperTransport Bridge, HyperTransport Cave, HyperTransport Host, SPI-4 Phase II controller, and 10 Gigabit MAC
HyperTransport Cave and HyperTransport Host from GDA are fully compliant (Version 1.03), designs with complete verification and synthesis environment. The designs provide a highly flexible peripheral interface to user's logic in addition to the upstream and downstream HyperTransport Link interfaces.
In addition to the IP library, GDA also offers a suite of design services to enable integration of this core into customer design. GDA will provide additional design, Verification as well as Physical implementation of the customer device on demand.

About HyperTransport™ Technology
HyperTransport technology is a high-speed, high-performance interconnect for integrated circuits that provide a universal connection designed to reduce the number of buses within the system. It provides a high-performance link for networking and embedded applications, and enables highly scalable multiprocessing systems. It is designed to enable the chips inside PCs, servers, networking and communications devices to communicate with each other up to 48 times faster than existing bus technologies. HyperTransport technology enables system designers to develop very complex, high-performance, scalable networking topologies through switching technology, while maintaining and improving the scalability and performance of their existing legacy PCI infrastructures.
