Silicon Image Brings Latest HD Connectivity Technology Into Mainstream Home Theater Market With New Port Processors
New Cost-Effective Port Processors Feature MHL® 2.0, InstaPort™ S, InstaPrevue™, and Support for 4K UltraHD
SUNNYVALE, Calif.-- January 8, 2013 -- Silicon Image (NASDAQ: SIMG), a leading provider of HD connectivity solutions, today announced the expansion of its comprehensive integrated circuit (IC) portfolio for the home theater market. The new SiI9533 and SiI9535 port processors − targeted for sound bars, A/V receivers and Home-Theater-in-a-Box (HTiB) systems − support the latest MHL® and HDMI® standards with resolutions up to 4K UltraHD as well as innovative technologies such as InstaPrevue™ and InstaPort™ S.
"Sound bars and HTiB systems represent one of the fastest growing segments in the Home Theater space. As TVs have gotten thinner, sound quality has suffered, creating increased demand for sound bars and home theater systems," said Alex Chervet, senior director of marketing at Silicon Image, Inc. "The new SiI9533 and SiI9535 port processors provide a high-quality and cost-effective solution for this growing market segment."
The SiI9533 and SiI9535 port processors feature InstaPrevue technology, which offers simultaneous live picture-in-picture previews of every device connected via HDMI or MHL inputs, from Blu-ray™ players to mobile devices. InstaPrevue eliminates the hassle of searching through inputs to determine which port is your Blu-ray player, set-top box, or other source device. Instead, consumers can easily view and select the live preview window to switch between connected devices.
The SiI9533 and SiI9535 port processors fully support the MHL 2.0 standard, adding to the ecosystem of over 220 million MHL-enabled devices shipped to date. Sound bars, A/V receivers, and Home-Theater-in-a-Box systems based on the SiI9533 and SiI9535 port processors will automatically detect MHL source devices and output HD video up to 4K UltraHD as well as 8.1 channels of high bit rate audio.
Silicon Image is currently sampling the SiI9533 and SiI9535 port processors.
