Amantys appoints Chief Executive Officer to drive revenue growth and new market engagement
Former 3Com, Thales, QinetiQ and C-MAC exec joins as CEO
Cambridge, UK, 10th January 2013 – Amantys Ltd, the intelligent power switching company, today announced the appointment of Karen Oddey as Chief Executive Officer to lead the company through the next stage of its development.
Amantys recently secured a new investment round of $8m in November 2012, built on the early industry adoption of the Amantys Power Drive family of IGBT gate drivers. The subsequent introduction of Amantys Power Insight for the condition monitoring of power semiconductor modules gives the system designer a unique platform to enhance switching performance.
With over 20 years’ of leadership experience at senior levels in many diverse electronic companies including 3Com, Thales and QinetiQ, Oddey brings to the company a broad range of experience growing and developing technology and engineering companies. Most recently, as CEO Oddey lead C-MAC Aerospace through to the successful sale of the business to API Technologies Corporation.
Commenting on the appointment, Chairman Pete Magowan said, "Karen brings to the team a depth of experience of electronics and technology leadership, having successfully navigated businesses through periods of significant transformation in products, systems and markets."

After an early engineering career in the power industry with NEI Parsons, Oddey moved into product and general management at 3Com Corporation. Oddey later served as Managing Director of the UK Land and Joint Systems Division at Thales Corporation and Managing Director of Technology Solutions Business at QinetiQ Group Plc. before joining C-MAC.
Speaking on her new role, Oddey said, "The team has developed a compelling series of Tier 1 OEM design-ins with its IGBT gate drive family of products, so it’s an exciting time to join. My job is to lead the organisation to deliver the near and longer term opportunity, capitalising on the unique combination of analogue power electronics with the digital world of embedded processors and embedded software. Our products today are industry leading gate drives, but it is the potential for a more diverse range of products and business models that attracted me to Amantys."
Pete Magowan added, "I’d like to thank Bryn Parry for his contribution as founding CEO, and I am delighted that he is staying with the company to become VP Corporate Development, building on his work to date and further developing the long term relationships that are critical to our industry."
