Accelerated Technology And Nazomi Align To Offer High Performance Java™ Reference Platform
Nucleus PLUS Tapped as First RTOS for Nazomi's Reference Platform: Exhibits Nazomi's JA108 Acceleration Capabilities in Multimedia and Mobile Wireless ApplicationsSANTA CLARA, Calif.- May 22, 2002 - Nazomi Communications Inc. (San Jose, CA), the inventor of universal and scalable solutions for boosting the performance of software running on the Java Platform, today announced it has selected Nucleus® PLUS from Accelerated Technology, the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics (Nasdaq: MENT), as the first real time operating system (RTOS) for its JA108 universal accelerator chip reference platform. The new high-performance Java platform, that includes the two companies' technologies, provides mobile handset designers and manufacturers, and other embedded device manufacturers the ability to experience the performance benefits of the JA108 in an evaluation environment.
"Accelerated Technology (AT) has proven to be an excellent partner for Nazomi as its Nucleus PLUS is a widely-used operating system by many wireless handset manufacturers," said Jay Kamdar, COO and vice president of marketing at Nazomi. "Often our prospective customers desire to view how Nazomi's JA108 accelerates Java performance before they integrate the chip into real-world applications. By having the Java runtime environment be similar to a handset design, we are helping our mutual customers achieve significant savings in development time. Moreover, by aligning with Accelerated Technology, we can demonstrate to our target audience that the JA108 can accelerate Java performance by up to 200x, depending upon the application. This, in turn, means their end applications will be more effective and consume less battery power."
"We are committed to having our RTOS environment used as widely as possible," said Neil Henderson, general manager of Mentor's Embedded Systems Division. "As Nazomi is making significant progress in offering Java enabled devices, particularly with its recently introduced JA108 chip, we are excited to align with this company. Nucleus PLUS is now enabling mobile handset designers to experience and design with the best Java platform using Nazomi's universal acceleration technology."
