MOSCAD Design & Automation Achieves New Milestone in Fully Integrated Silicon Oscillators
LE VAUD , Switzerland -- May 23, 2013 -- With the release of its NXO Technology™, MOSCAD Design & Automation has taken a critical step in solving a longstanding problem in the area of integrated timing solutions for quartz replacement. This breakthrough in the field of semiconductors is now silicon proven and shows excellent precision as well as stability over temperature and supply voltage with an accuracy exceeding 1000ppm over -20°C to 85°C while offering very low power consumption (<300µA@50MHz). NXO Technology™ extends the range of applications driven by an internal oscillator through a unique combination of excellent performance and ability to be implemented in any standard digital CMOS technology. The oscillator is now in volume production and available for the major foundries.
About NXO Technology™
NXO stands for No XTAL Oscillator and is a revolutionary technology developed by MOSCAD providing fully integrated timing solutions. Over the years, there has been a continuous effort to eliminate the need for external components to substantially improve on cost, long term stability and PCB footprint. NXO Technology™ has achieved this by replacing the external quartz by a silicon oscillator. In addition to this it delivers enhanced ESD/EMI immunity and reduces sensitivity to aging and mechanical vibrations.
NXO Technology™ is capable of operating with full precision, at multiple frequencies after one single calibration point; this can, for example, dramatically improve power efficiency. Furthermore through multiple frequencies this innovation reduces the time to market offering competitive advantages to its clients. By covering a range from 4MHz to 256MHz, it also adds substantial flexibility to the SoC/ASIC design flow since one IP can cover a very large frequency range as opposed to crystal-based solutions.
About MOSCAD Design & Automation
MOSCAD was founded in 1985 as a consulting company. Active in analog and mixed-signal IC design; it became MOSCAD Design & Automation Sàrl. in 2005 and started developing state-of-the-art analog and mixed-signal cells and highly complex custom designs. Combined with its excellent track record of first time silicon success, the company has created a unique portfolio of IP including timing, data converters, power management, voltage reference, security and various other circuits.
