Barco Silex releases Multi-Channel Ultra HDTV 8K JPEG 2000 encoder and decoder cores
Ultra-high-performance and flexible single-FPGA JPEG 2000 solution enables future-proofed next-generation systems
Louvain-la-Neuve -- Sept. 6, 2013 – Barco Silex, the leading provider of JPEG 2000 compression IP cores and solutions, announced today the release of a new range of single-chip, multi-channel 8K UHDTV JPEG 2000 cores. The cores have been implemented on the 28nm FPGA’s and SoC’s of Altera and Xilinx.
“This new range of ultra-high resolution JPEG 2000 cores fitting in a single FPGA or SoC device are facilitating manufacturers to develop future-proofed solutions for UHDTV”, said Jean-Marie Cloquet, Manager of the image processing division of Barco Silex. “Thanks to the flexible and scalable architecture of our cores, we are able to offer our customers a unique upgrade path, ranging from ultra-compact JPEG 2000 HD and DCI cores in the smallest FPGA devices to multi-channel 4K and 8K UHDTV. Integrated by equipment manufacturers and compliant with several industry standards or recommendations such as the VSF Technical Recommendation of JPEG 2000 Broadcast profile and DCI (Digital Cinema Initiative), they provide reliable and unmatched quality.”
Barco Silex will showcase its JPEG 2000 solutions at the IBC tradeshow in Amsterdam (Hall 10 D31).
