Fujisoft supports the development of Android-powered embedded devices with the launch of their Graphics Accelerator for Android supporting Altera SoC
September 26, 2013 -- Fujisoft Incorporated today announced the launch of their “GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR for Android” for embedded devices. The Graphics Accelerator will be compatible with the Altera Cyclone® V SoC from U.S. integrated circuit vendor Altera Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Altera), a leading FPGA hardware provider.
From Thursday, September 26th, Fujisoft will provide a total solution including the sale and support of our GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR for Android as well as full system design & customization services for a wide variety of embedded devices based on Altera’s Cyclone® V SoC.
While Android continues to be the number one OS for Smartphones and Tablets, it is also beginning to be adopted for a wider range of embedded devices and industrial equipment.
FPGAs enable users to customize the logic they require any number of times themselves thereby extending their product’s life circle while reducing development costs. This flexibility has led to the widespread adoption of these integrated circuits across many different embedded device segments. With over 20 years of design expertise on Altera devices and recognition as a first-class Design Service Network (DSN) partner, Fujisoft has the resources and capabilities required to easily support a wide variety of Altera FPGA and ARM SoC based projects.
Our “GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR for Android” is implemented within the FPGA fabric of a Cyclone V SoC and enables a faster android user experience similar to that of a Smartphone- all on one Cyclone V SoC chip. Additionally, Fujisoft offers a free evaluation running the Altera Linux Kernel from the Cyclone V SoC Board Support Package (BSP) and Android 4.0. This evaluation can be downloaded from the Fujisoft Android website or you can contact us directly for more information.
Fujisoft continues to expand its range of business solutions and customer support for the product development of a wide range of embedded devices running Android. This includes industrial, medical, measurement, and many other devices that are based on and leverage the benefits of an FPGA solution.
Outline of GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR for Android
1- Lightweight accelerator for embedded applications
The GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR speeds up the usually slow Android drawing process on Altera SoC by focusing on the core elements of image processing. The small amount of logical elements required, makes Fujisoft’s accelerator the perfect solution for portable devices.
2- Small-scale & low-cost by narrowing down functions
By carefully selecting only the heaviest accelerator functions and implementing them into the FPGA hardware, Fujisoft's GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR IP core is able to obtain a maximum effect with minimal resources.
3- Total customization support from hardware to application
The “GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR for Android” will improve the user experience of running Android on Altera SoCs and thanks to our rich experience and development resources, Fujisoft can support customers by providing a full system design. Our expertise comprises a full set of Hardware design (IP Cores, FPGA & Board) plus Software design (Drivers, OS, Middleware, & Applications) capabilities.
