Silicon Image Announces First 4K Ultra HD MHL 3.0 Receiver IC With HDCP 2.2 in Support of Secure Premium Content Transmission
SUNNYVALE, Calif.-- September 30, 2013 -- Silicon Image, Inc. (NASDAQ:SIMG), a leading provider of HD connectivity solutions, today announced the availability of the industry's first 4K Ultra HD MHL® 3.0 receiver featuring support for HDCP 2.2, the latest High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection technology that protects high-value digital motion pictures, television programs and audio against unauthorized interception and copying. DTVs, projectors, and A/V receivers that include the Silicon Image SiI9679 MHL 3.0 receiver are able to securely receive premium 4K Ultra HD commercial entertainment content protected under HDCP 2.2 technology. The SiI9679 MHL 3.0 HDCP 2.2 receiver will sample in Q4 of 2013 and is targeted for mass production in Q1 of 2014.

In addition to supporting resolutions up to 4K Ultra HD and enhanced 7.1 surround sound with Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD, the SiI9679 MHL 3.0 receiver also enables connectivity to a wide variety of source devices by also being compatible with the MHL 1.0, MHL 2.0, HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 specifications.
