Inside Secure Introduces EasyPlug Cryptographic Middleware for Secure Microcontrollers
New Plug-and-Play Software SpeedsAddition ofAdvanced Security to Existing Mobile Devices, USB Tokens, PC-LinkProducts and Embedded Systems
AIX-EN-PROVENCE, France, October 28, 2013– INSIDE Secure (NYSE Euronext INSD) today introduced its EasyPlug™ cryptographic middleware, software thatenables developers to quickly and easily addstrong security tomobile devices, USB tokens, PC-Link products and embedded systems. Certified by Microsoft and natively linked to the INSIDE family of VaultIC® and VaultSEcure security solutions, EasyPlug middleware makes INSIDE Secure the only security vendor providing developers with a complete plug-and-play cryptographic solution that combines tamper-proof Common Criteria EAL 5+ hardware, FIPS 140-2 certified firmware and a Microsoft-certified smartcard minidriver.
INSIDE’s comprehensive security offering eliminates the extra margin, licensing and integration costs associated with obtaining these components from multiple vendors.
“OurEasyPlug middleware reduces the cost of implementing advanced cryptographic capabilities and demonstrates INSIDE’s commitment to providing complete solutions our customers can use to quickly build advanced security features in their products,” said Bernard Vian, executive vice president for Secure Transactions at INSIDE Secure. “In a complete solution with our VaultIC security modules, EasyPlug simplifies securing applicationslike browsers, SSL authentication, remote access, single sign-on, documents and email. In the future, EasyPlug will enable us to offer complete cryptographic solutions for a broad range of INSIDE hardware security modules.”
According to Vian, the increasing prominence of attacks is motivating use of secure hardware for use in applications beyond traditional ones like payments. INSIDE’s EasyPlug solution makes it easy for manufacturers to add its secure microcontrollers to the huge swathe of existing applications based oncurrent standards for cryptographic application programming interfaces (APIs).
With a flexible architecture designed to be deployed in USB, PC-Link or embedded systems, EasyPlug middleware automatically identifies and provides the appropriate cryptographic functionality for the platform and application through standard APIs. In addition to the VaultIC API for use in embedded systems, the EasyPlug middleware also provides a smartcard minidriver that is Content Security Policy (CSP)- compliant with Microsoft applicationsas well as a PKCS #11 API, for non-Microsoft applications.
