IAR Systems releases new version of leading development tools for ARM
ARM TechCon, Santa Clara, CA—October 30, 2013—Today, IAR Systems® announces the availability of version 6.70 of the complete C/C++ development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench® for ARM®. The version brings improved integrations and new functionality as well as new device support.
News include on-demand download of example projects. In the web-based Information Center in IAR Embedded Workbench, users can select to download example projects for their microcontroller vendor of choice. This new functionality increases the flexibility and makes the download and installation of the product faster. In addition, less free memory space is required for the installation.
The new version improves and extends the integration with the device configuration tool Freescale Processor Expert Software. The integration consists of a project connection mechanism that is used to seamlessly pass project content from Freescale Processor Expert to IAR Embedded Workbench. This enables developers to import files or file packages generated by the tool, with IAR Embedded Workbench automatically detecting changes in the generated file set.
Allowing users to override multiple declarations and definitions by using a single pragma, the compiler now includes new pragma directives to set default placement and attributes for variable or function declarations and definitions.
IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM is a complete development toolchain including the highly-optimizing IAR C/C++ Compiler™ and the feature-rich C-SPY® Debugger incorporated in a user-friendly integrated development environment. Recent enhancements to the tools include a flexible integration with external code analysis tools and added support for IAR Systems’ I-scope™ probe that used together with the in-circuit debugging probe I-jet™ adds possibilities for detailed current and voltage measurements.
The latest version adds support for new microcontrollers from Atmel, NXP and Toshiba. This further expands the tools’ uniquely wide support covering all ARM cores, in total more than 2,600 devices from more than 30 vendors.
