Faraday Announces the Availability of Dual-core Cortex A9-based SoC Platform
Highly integrated and versatile advance SoC platform for easy adoption to target applications
Hsinchu, Taiwan and Sunnyvale, California -- Nov. 19, 2013 -- Faraday Technology Corporation (TAIEX: 3035), a leading fabless ASIC/SoC and IP provider, today announced the availability of its ARM-based SoCreative! IV™ evaluation platform with A380 SoC chip in 40nm LP (Low power) process. This latest extendable SoC platform integrates powerful processors and high-performance interfaces to address the fast growing demand of cloud infrastructure market, targeting the networking, computing, and storage applications.
The heart of SoCreative! IV™ platform is an A380 SoC chip, which has a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 (1GHz) and a FA626TE (500MHz), with either one configurable to be the main processor, depending on customers' application requirements. A380 integrates multiple high-speed interfaces including DDR3-1600, PCIE-Gen3, SRIO, SGMII, and USB2.0 (OTG), with AHB extension bus available for connection to FPGA. With these features, customers can take advantage of the foundation work done by A380, and expand it to create full custom SoC with their own IP blocks.
"In the Cloud infrastructure market, the optimization of performance and power and shortest time-to-market are keys to success. SoCreative! IV™ is thus designed to be used as a development and evaluation platform for easy adoption of A380 to target applications,” said Jason Hung, RD Vice President at Faraday. ”With this latest silicon-proven SoCreative! IV™ platform, customers can accelerate SoC development by as much as 12 months, while reducing much of the integration complexity and design risk,” he added.
With FPGA extension bus, SoCreative! IV™ enables immediate validation of custom logic and software development. Comprising the complete hardware evaluation system and software development package, SoCreative! IV™ redefines what can be done to accelerate SoC development, and reflects Faraday's continual commitment to be the best and trusted SoC partner for cloud infrastructure applications.
In the upcoming ET Japan event (Embedded Technology, Nov.20-22th), Faraday will demo the SoCreative! IV™ platform. Welcome to visit and learn more details then.
