Silicon Image Enables First Televisions Featuring MHL 3.0 Connectivity in Samsung's Ultra High Definition (UHD) TVs
Dual-Mode MHL/HDMI® Receiver Enables MHL 3.0 Functionality in Mainstream Models
SUNNYVALE, Calif., January 6, 2014 - Silicon Image, Inc. (NASDAQ: SIMG), a leading provider of HD connectivity solutions, today announced that its dual-mode MHL® 3.0/HDMI® 2.0 receiver has been designed into Samsung's latest Ultra High Definition (UHD) TVs.
MHL is the leading HD video connectivity standard for connecting a mobile device to large screen displays, while simultaneously charging the device. MHL 3.0-enabled mobile devices can transmit 4K Ultra HD movies, photos, and games with up to 8 channels of digital audio to a DTV. Consumers can control MHL-enabled mobile devices using the existing TV remote.

The MHL Consortium now has approximately 200 adopters and members supporting the MHL standard, including some of the largest mobile device and consumer electronics companies in the world. MHL-enabled products include smartphones, tablets, DTVs, monitors, projectors, A/V receivers, Blu-ray Disc™ players, TV accessories, adapters, automotive accessories and more. Since the retail introduction of the first MHL-enabled devices in 2011, the MHL ecosystem has grown to an installed base of more than 400 million products and over 300 unique products in the marketplace today.
