CoinTerra begins shipment of the TerraMiner IV - the world's fastest Bitcoin miner
AUSTIN, Texas – January 31, 2014 -- CoinTerra™, the high performance and value leader in ASIC Bitcoin mining hardware announced today that they have started delivering their eagerly-anticipated TerraMiner™ IV professional Bitcoin miner – the first to market which breaks the one terahash barrier.
With the first production TerraMiner IV in a retail customer’s hands, CoinTerra has set a new standard for both price and performance for Bitcoin mining hardware. The unprecedented hash power of the TerraMiner IV redefines the standard by which all Bitcoin miners will be judged moving forward.
With blazing performance approaching two terahashes per second, the TerraMiner IV is the first self-contained Bitcoin mining solution to smash the one terahash per second barrier and with its $5999 price point it also delivers a dollar per gigahash proposition unmatched in the marketplace today.
Designed and assembled in Austin, Texas, the very first production unit was presented to customer Jake Gostylo by Founder and CEO Ravi Iyengar and the CoinTerra team, who joined him in celebrating the occasion at CoinTerra’s headquarters.
“Handing over the first TerraMiner marks a major milestone for CoinTerra. It goes to show that through hard work and determination with the right team in place, great things can be accomplished in an incredibly short timeframe” said Ravi Iyengar, CEO – CoinTerra, Inc.
“As a long-time Bitcoin miner, I’m incredibly excited to be the first person in the world to get my hands on a production TerraMiner. The performance blows away anything I’ve mined with before” said Jake Gostylo.
At the heart of the TerraMiner is the 28nm GoldStrike™ I processor, the most powerful SHA256 ASIC ever released. With peak performance of over 500 gigahash per second it is testament to the strength of CoinTerra’s world-class engineering team.
“We are delighted to be the silicon supplier and physical design house for CoinTerra’s industry leading TerraMiner platform. Manufactured on GlobalFoundries 28nm technology node, the silicon was delivered in a special custom package with testing completed in an unprecedented cycle time of 49 days from tapeout” said Asim Salim, VP Operations – Open-Silicon.
CoinTerra’s order books are filled through April 2014. The sixth batch of TerraMiner Bitcoin miners can be pre-ordered at http://cointerra.com/shop with deliveries scheduled for May 2014.
