IDT Selects eInfochips' PCI-X eVC
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - June 10, 2002 - eInfochips and Verisity Ltd. (Nasdaq: VRST), the leading provider of functional verification automation tools, today announced that IDT (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; Nasdaq: IDTI) has selected eInfochips' PCI-X e Verification Component (eVC™) to be used in their Specman Elite™ verification environment. eVCs are reusable plug-and-play verification components for standard interfaces based on Verisity's high-level verification language, e. IDT chose the PCI-X eVC to cut the time it takes to create their verification environment and ensure a higher-quality design.
eInfochips developed the PCI-X eVC through Verisity's Verification Alliance™ program. eInfochips Inc., is at the forefront in advanced verification methodologies and has developed several eVCs using Specman Elite to reduce the time it takes to create verification infrastructure and automated testbench environments. Thus eInfochips supports Verisity's verification reuse strategy for improving productivity.
"With the use of eInfochips' PCI-X eVC in our verification environment and the support of their team, which has assisted in generating test cases to debug the RTL, we have been able to rapidly address the verification bottleneck,'" said John Mick, vice president of engineering and general manager for IDT's Dallas Design Center. "Test suites accompanying the eVC have helped in identifying corner cases and in reaching a greater verilog coverage. Within weeks of adopting the eVC into our environment, we have reduced nearly 100 percent of our verification effort for the PCI-X portion of our design and have a powerful advantage of getting to market faster with a high-quality design."
"The Verification Alliance program has been a great resource for both additional consulting services and eVCs," said Dave Tokic, director of strategic marketing for Verisity. "eInfochips' eVC for PCI-X is a very important piece of the verification environment for any design containing the PCI-X standard."
"eInfochips' eVCs leverage the power of Specman Elite and superior verification methodologies to accelerate the development of complete verification suites and aid verification engineers in quickly building the overall verification environment. Our expert services on Specman Elite's methodology enable our customers to come up with complex testbench solutions in the fastest possible time," said Niraj Patel, Head, ASIC division at eInfochips, Inc.
About PCI-X eVC
The eInfochips PCI-X eVC is a ready-made highly configurable e verification component suitable for any DUT that interfaces with a PCI-X bus. It is easy to configure and integrate with your ASIC. The eInfochips PCI-X eVC is the set of the behavioral models and test suites written in e language. The models are tools for system designers to exercise and debug the design of components/ systems based on PCI-X standard. The objective of the eVC is to aid in the functional verification process and to reduce errors prior to silicon.
The environment includes models of PCI-X master and target devices, a PCI-X arbiter to control bus access, a protocol and timing monitor to check for and report protocol violation and functional coverage analysis. In addition to this, it also includes a full suite of compliance test scenarios that verify compliance to PCI-X and PCI 2.2 specification.

e Verification Components
eVCs foster verification reuse because they can easily be moved from the module-level verification to SoC-level verification, as well as from one chip design to another. Users can drop them into their designs and drastically cut the time it takes to create a verification environment.
Each eVC includes three integrated components: a stimuli generator for injecting and generating traffic, monitors and checkers for viewing outputs and checking protocol rules, and coverage reports showing the functional coverage of scenarios. They can be used in a variety of design applications and are available for a wide array of industry standards.
