Z3 Technology Announces 4K H.264 Video Encoder with Release of Z3-DM8169-4K-RPS System
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Feb. 18, 2014 -- Providing the latest in integrated embedded solutions and products, Z3 Technology, LLC is excited to announce the immediate availability of the Z3-DM8169-4K-RPS video encoder system. The system was developed as a 2160p30 video solution that works in applications such as Ultra-HD broadcast video encoding and decoding, security and surveillance, video conferencing and industrial video processing.
"The new Z3-DM8169-4K-RPS provides a complete 2160p30 H.264 encoder in a compact form-factor that a customer can immediately use for video transmission, security and industrial applications," said Aaron Caldwell, CEO, Z3 Technology. "The versatility and flexibility of the design enables OEMs and ODMs to quickly assimilate TI's latest DaVinci DM8169 video processor with Z3 integrated technology, thereby significantly reducing development expenses and product time to market."
The Z3-DM8169-4K-RPS system comes equipped with both hardware and software components. Based on the DaVinci™ TMS320DM8169 video processor from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), the hardware provided includes one Z3-DM8169-MOD-3x system-on-module card, providing 1GB DDR3 and 256MB Flash, and a video application board, the Z3-DM8168-APP-6x, which provides advanced video input/output capabilities.
Measuring only 121mm x 125mm, the Z3-DM8169-4K-RPS supports H.264 with AAC audio in all video resolutions from QCIF to 2160p30 encode and stream or decode from stream. The system boasts versatile encoding modes such as low latency, high quality or low bit-rate. Hardware also includes: HDMI 1.4a input/output, GigE, SATA2 and dual USB 2.0. All of Z3 Technology's RPS systems are equipped with HTTP web interface or RS-232 serial interface for configuration, control and software updates.
"With its latest 4K encode/decode implementation Z3 continues to show its engineering prowess by utilizing every last bit of chip entitlement. With its modular approach, Z3's solution provides an easy migration path for existing customers and opens new opportunities with one of the most cost effective 4K implementations in the market. We are excited to see DM8169 processor utilized to its full capability powering new 4K applications," said Atul Verma, business manager, video infrastructure and conferencing, TI.
Along with the RPS system hardware, the bundled software includes all necessary components for users to develop their own advanced multimedia, graphics and DSP applications. The provided software contains pre-loaded encoder and decoder Z3 streaming applications based on Linux OS. Featured software components include 2160p30 H.264 codec and streaming protocols such as RTP and MPEG-2 TS. A Linux-based media software development kit (RDK) license, FPGA firmware license, additional design services and support are available from Z3 Technology.
