Imagination delivers connectivity and multimedia capability in new Toshiba TZ5000 series applications processors
TZ5000 integrates PowerVR graphics and video plus Ensigma Wi-Fi 802.11ac
MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS, Barcelona, Spain – February 25, 2014 – Imagination Technologies (IMG.L) announces that Toshiba Corporation’s new TZ500 series applications processors integrate multiple Imagination IP cores including PowerVR graphics and video processors (GPU and VPU) and Ensigma Series4 radio communications processor (RPU) for 802.11ac 2x2 functionality.
The new TZ500 series of applications processors are the newest addition to Toshiba’s ApP Lite™ series. The processors integrate high-speed wireless LAN and NAND flash memory in one package, targeting applications including over-the-top (OTT) tuners, IP media boxes, wearable devices, digital signage, thin client terminal devices and more.
Says Toshiya Matsui, general manager, Logic LSI Marketing & Engineering Department, Logic LSI Division, Toshiba Corporation Semiconductor & Storage Products Company: “Our highly integrated TZ500 series processors enable our customers to reduce the footprint and power consumption of their products. Working with our partner Imagination, we were able to incorporate a range of leading IP for even greater advantage. Customers will benefit from Imagination’s industry-leading PowerVR graphics and video, as well as its Ensigma processors that provide the high-speed Wi-Fi that is a hallmark of these new processors.”
Says Tony King-Smith, EVP marketing, Imagination: “This latest product from Toshiba demonstrates the growing strategic relationship between our companies. We are particularly impressed by Toshiba’s integration of Ensigma RPU and PowerVR GPU and VPU technologies to create a comprehensive solution. This is reflective of the growing number of companies who are coming to Imagination for increasingly more IP building blocks and complete subsystems for their next-generation SoCs.”
Demonstration at Mobile World Congress
In its booth number 6E30 at Mobile World Congress, Imagination will feature a demonstration of Toshiba’s TZ5000 series processors. Mobile World Congress is being held February 24-28 in Barcelona, Spain.
