Virage Logic Improves Manufacturability and Shortens Time to Market with New Partnerships
40 Companies are Now Part of Memory Alliance Program
Fremont, CA - June 17, 2002, Virage Logic Corp. (Nasdaq: VIRL), a global leader in embedded memory technology, today announced five additional partners have joined its expanding Memory Alliance Program (MAP), which was formed to foster the continued expansion and use of embedded memory in system-on-chip (SoC) designs. In an effort to enable companies to get their products to market faster while delivering better-yielding SoCs, Virage Logic has expanded its Design Services group. The new partners are CMOSChips, Faraday Technology Corp., Intrinsix, Portable Globe, and Synopsys, Inc.
The Virage Logic MAP program includes five of the essential technologies that enable advanced memory solutions in SoC designs: EDA, Foundries, Design for Test, Intellectual Property (IP) Suppliers, and Design Services.
MAP is a proactive program that brings together all the enabling technology players to ensure that embedded memory will be a driver, rather than a bottleneck, for data-intensive applications. In order to proliferate the use of embedded memory, Virage Logic is partnering with these companies to incorporate each partner's technology with its own.
Together these synergistic companies supply customers with all the memory and related services they need when developing new SoCs...quickly and cost-effectively. Customers who rely on IP and design services will find their requirements for multi-megabit memories, as well as high-performance, high-density, low power, and low cost memory, no longer presents a problem. Virage Logic and its MAP partners ensure that the sophisticated memory, and its essential enabling technologies, will be readily available to accommodate even the most data-intensive applications.
"Today we are announcing five new MAP members in the design area. The design partners are important because they offer the customer expertise in designing with embedded memory IP, as well as improved manufacturability, guaranteeing silicon performance and accelerating time to volume," said Adam Kablanian, chief executive officer of Virage Logic. "With 40 partners signed to date -- a who's who of foundries, IP suppliers, design service providers, EDA and test companies-- we cover all the areas that are critical to successfully adopting advanced memory in an SoC design."
Design Services Partners
New Design Services partners include CMOSChips, Faraday, Intrinsix, Portable Globe, and Synopsys. Design Services partners provide engineers with expertise to complement their own in-house design talents.
CMOSChips is an innovative networking startup incubator pioneering next generation wireless and networking technologies. CMOSChips' Design Centers help customers incubate new products, accelerate product tape-out time, modify existing ASIC, FPGA or Systems, or manage resource issues.
Faraday Technology provides ASIC design services and IP for customers ranging from small start-ups to large multinational IC design houses and system houses.
Intrinsix is the largest independent electronic design outsourcing company. Intrinsix architects, designs and verifies SoC designs in networking, wireless and digital media applications. "Today there are many more companies requiring complete SoC solutions in order to quickly architect, design and verify complex devices," said Josh Schissler, VP of Business Development at Intrinsix. "We have a long and successful history in each of these engineering disciplines. The knowledge and access to Virage Logic memory technology furthers our ability to bring superior SoC solutions to our clients."
Portable Globe acts as a catalyst that helps to speed up the process of bringing a new chip from design to mass production, regardless of how complex or challenging the application.
Synopsys creates leading electronic design automation (EDA) tools for the global electronics market. Synopsys also provides consulting and support services to simplify the overall IC design process and accelerate time to market for its customers. The Synopsys portfolio of Professional Services covers all critical phases of SoC development including embedded memory. Synopsys is also a Virage Logic MAP EDA partner.
