PLDA announces OpenCL-compliant Stratix V Prototyping Board Solutions
- PLDA announces OpenCL-compliant Stratix V Prototyping Board Solutions, providing complete support for the OpenCL programming framework
- PLDA is a Preferred Board Partner for the Altera SDK for OpenCL and has approved products available now
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- April 1, 2014 -- PLDA, the industry leader in PCI Express® and interface IP solutions today announced the availability of their Altera Prefered Board solutions based on the Altera Stratix V FPGA. OpenCL allows users to write programs in C/C++ or OpenCL C that execute across heterogeneous computing platforms such as CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, and FPGAs and extract parallelism from that code. The Altera software development kit (SDK) for OpenCL has the following benefits for customers:
- Abstracts away the standard hardware development flow for FPGAs and enables software programmers with basic hardware knowledge to deploy an FPGA accelerator
- Leverages the FPGA accelerator to implement algorithms on a power efficient FPGA device
- Establishes a homogeneous programming environment across devices, improving time-to-design and encouraging code reuse
PLDA offers complete packages based on the Altera Strativ V FPGA. Their new OpenCL board package, the XpressGX5LP-OCL provide the following advantages:
- Delivers a low-profile PCI Express form factor which integrates into any server box
- Includes the Altera SDK for OpenCL, featuring a set of headers, libraries, a device driver; an OpenCL compiler and support tools including Install, diagnostic, FPGA program and Example OpenCL programs
- Features an Altera Stratix V Reference Design, representative for the OpenCL programming model
- Contains a complete PLDA board support package with a firmware image, QXP, constraints, Qsys project, scripts and OpenCL software utilities
“Our leadership in advancing the OpenCL standard is helping our clients to more easily use FPGAs to accelerate their applications,” said Alex Grbic, director of software, IP and DSP marketing at Altera. “PLDA is a highly regarded member of the Altera Preferred Board Partner Program for OpenCL and has worked closely with Altera to ensure their products deliver an optimal customer experience.”
Product Availability:
PLDA’s XpressGX5LP-OCL is available now. Please visit the PLDA website for more information at http://www.plda.com/products/boards/low-profile/altera/xpressgx5-lp-ocl.
