Grain Media Launches Its 4Kx2K IPcam SoC Solutions by Adopting Faraday's Serial Interface (MIPI/Sub-LVDS/HiSPi) Technology
Hsinchu, Taiwan -- May 27, 2014 -- Grain Media Technology Inc., the leading provider of surveillance SoC solutions, formally announced today its 4Kx2K IPcam SoC series - GM8139/GM8138/GM8138S. The newly-launched SoC series in UMC 40LP process, applying Grain Media's latest TrueColor™ ISP engine and Faraday's high-performance serial interface (MIPI/Sub-LVDS/HiSPi) technology, is targeted to the high-resolution 4Kx2K/5M/3M/1080P IPcam.
Assembled with the TrueColor™ ISP, high-performance H.264 HP/MP encoder, and 3D de-noise technology, the series of GM8139/GM8138/GM8138S provides the excellent WDR and 3A capability to deliver high-quality image with lowest bit rate even under the high contrast and low lux environment. Furthermore, the built-in Smart-IVS™ engine and high-performance ARM CPU (up to 800MHz) can easily realize the intelligent graphic analysis. By adopting Faraday's serial interface (MIPI/Sub-LVDS/HiSPi) technology, this SoC series can support varied serial CMOS sensors in the market.
GM8138S applies 12x12mm BGA package with the built-in DDR DRAM, which can effectively simplify the system design, reduce the PCB size, and bring more flexibility to the IPcam system design. This solution is especially suitable for high C/P IPcam, such as 1080P/720P consuming and portable ones.
“As a leading surveillance solution provider, Grain Media leads to launch the 4Kx2K IPcam solution to meet the rising market demand in ultra HD image,” said Alan Hsieh, Vice President of Sales at Grain Media. “The SoC series of GM8139/GM8138/GM8138S applies the same SDK structure and GUI tool for easy image tuning. The turnkey solution, including software, hardware, and the third-party app greatly saves the system development resource and shorten the time-to-market,” he added.
“Grain Media is a leading solution provider with many first-tier system customers in Korea, Taiwan, and China. It's our honor to continuously contribute to their advanced and high-end GM8139/GM8138/GM8138S IPcam SoCs," said Eliot Chen, Senior Associate Vice President of RD at Faraday. ” Faraday provides the specific Combo PHY of MIPI, sub-LVDS, and HiSPi to interface with various kinds of CMOS sensors. Furthermore, by adopting Faraday's FPGA platform integrated with the Combo PHY test chip and controller IP, customers can complete the full system-level verification at the pre-silicon stage and accelerate the ASIC development time,” he added.
