Aviacomm adopts M31 MIPI M-PHY IP for 4G-LTE RF transceiver solutions for mobile devices
Hsinchu, Taiwan and Sunnyvale, Calif., June 4th, 2014 – M31 Technology, a global Intellectual Property (IP) boutique, and Aviacomm Inc., a leader in wideband RF CMOS ICs jointly announce availability of M31’s MIPI M-PHY-based DigRF v4 interface for Aviacomm’s 4G-LTE RF transceivers for mobile devices. Aviacomm has successfully integrated M31’s M-PHY into its DigRF v4 interface. This design integration makes available the industry-standard DigRF v4 interface for interconnectivity between baseband IC and Aviacomm’s 4G-LTE transceiver.
The MIPI M-PHY has high bandwidth and low power features that support various communication protocols and hardware interfaces such as displays, cameras, storage, and power management. DigRF v4, which was also developed by the MIPI Alliance, is a digital interface standard for wireless radio frequency IC (RFIC) to base-band IC (BBIC) interfaces in mobile devices. It supports the fourth generation of wireless mobile communication. DigRF v4 provides high-speed bandwidth that reduces pin count, power consumption and electromagnetic interference (EMI). DigRF provides flexible choices for cellular phone developers.
M31’s MIPI M-PHY IP has been verified in various process technologies through tier one semiconductor manufacturers. It fully supports high-speed 1.25G of HS-G1, 2.5G of HS-G2, as well as the low-speed Type-II LS -SYS burst mode., it also can adjust the amplitude and slew rate at the transmission side in order to reduce electromagnetic interference and avoid RF spurious problems. The MIPI M-PHY evaluation board that M31 provided to Aviacomm is silicon-proven and meets RMMI (Reference M-PHY Module Interface) standards, so that Aviacomm could easily integrate the evaluation board with its DigRF v4 controller, then quickly complete the validation process.
Aviacomm CEO Shih Mo said, “Integration of M31’s M-PHY solution helps Aviacomm expand our existing RF transceiver IC product line to offer an advanced high-performance industry-standard interface option to our customers.”
Hsiao-Ping Lin, the Chairman of M31 Technology Corporation indicated, "The successful cooperation between M31’s MIPI M-PHY IP and Aviacomm’s DigRF v4 product, resolved the needs of interconnect between various IC chips in 4G-LTE mobile devices. Customers no longer waste time and effort in verifying IPs. Instead, they can focus more on their IC design."
M31’s M-PHY IPs can be applied on various interface protocols such as: universal flash memory (UFS), display serial interface (DSI-2), camera serial Interface (CSI-3), low-latency interface (LLI), super speed inter-chip (SSIC), mobile PCIe (M-PCIe) and DigRF v4.0 specification. Furthermore, M31 will continue to introduce a series of related products like UniPro controller and MIPI D-PHY/C-PHY in the near future.
