PLDA and KAYA Instruments announce a tested high performance CoaXPress system based on PCIe Kintex-7 FPGA Board.
SAN JOSE, Calif. (June 26, 2014) — PLDA, the industry leader in PCI Express® IP solutions, and KAYA Instruments, leading provider of CoaXPress-related products, today announced a new custom and high-performance CoaXPress system. The complete system includes PLDA’s XpressK7 board based on Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA and KAYA’s FMC daughtercard with five CoaXPress channels that can support up to 6.25 Gbps each with total bandwidth of more than 31 Gbps.
CoaXpress is a new digital transmission standard that allows high speed data from a device, such as a camera, to be transferred to a host, such as a frame grabber. Each CoaXPress link supports up to 6.25 Gbps data rates, along with device power up to 13W and device control at 20 Mbps – all over a single coax cable. For very fast devices, the links can be aggregated to provide multiples of the single coax bandwidth. Long cable lengths are supported – up to 40 meters at 6.25 Gbps and over 100 meters at 3.125 Gbps.
Targeted for Machine Vision Industry, the CoaXPress interface is positioned to allow system developers the flexibility of Gigabit Ethernet cable distances while attaining bandwidth higher than that of Camera Link (Full).
PLDA’s XpressK7 Board is a Xilinx Kintex-7 based board, featuring partial HPC FMC and DDR3 SODIMM connectors. It has been designed for prototyping and deployment and provides great flexibility in term of features. PCIe 2.0 IP or PCIe 3.0 soft IP is included and XpressK7 is multi-certified (REACH / ROHS / CE) and produced in an ISO9001 factory. KAYA Instruments’ FMC daughtercard includes the CoaXPress FPGA IP Cores for both Device and Host.
Availability
PLDA XpressK7 is available now from PLDA. The FMC CoaXPress daughtercard is available now from KAYA Instruments.
