Mysticom and Optillion Demonstrate Reliable and Complete Optical Communications Link
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 8, 2002 – Mysticom, a leading supplier of Ethernet and Backplane communications ICs, today announced superior performance and extended data transmission distances during interoperability testing with Optillion's 10G Ethernet XENPAK transceiver. The tests confirmed that Mysticom's MY3004 10G Ethernet PHY Transceiver and Optillion's TOP3010 10G XENPAK transceiver, together provide a high-performance, reliable and complete physical layer optical communication link for 10 Gigabit Ethernet systems.
"We are pleased that Mysticom has successfully demonstrated interoperability between the MY3004 XAUI SerDes and our TOP3010 10G XENPAK optical transceiver," said Patrik Evaldsson, president and CEO of Optillion. "These results provide customers with added confidence in deploying optical 10 Gigabit Ethernet solutions."
In the interoperability test utilizing standard 8/125 um single-mode fiber, the link operated at an equivalent distance of 10 kilometers. The test set-up included an asynchronous, real-life application that transmitted a variety of data patterns, including the recently approved IEEE 10 Gigabit Ethernet Standard's Continuous Random Pattern (CRPAT) and Continuous Jitter Pattern (CJPAT). In addition, the MY3004 operated error free for the entire duration of the tests.
"Mysticom is committed to accelerating high speed data communications and bringing new capabilities through innovative DSP and mixed signal communications IC solutions," said David Almagor, president and CEO of Mysticom. "The cooperation with Optillion has allowed us to deliver a high-performance 10Gbps Ethernet optical solution that satisfies a growing customer need and demonstrates the robustness of our product."
About the MY3004
The Mysticom MY3004 is a four-channel 3.125Gbps serializer/deserializer (SerDes) device for backplane and 10G Ethernet applications. The device features Mysticom's unique Signal Quality IndexTM that is used in conjunction with adaptive line-conditioning software and fine tunes, five signal link parameters for optimal system performance. The device is compliant to the recently approved IEEE 10 Gigabit Ethernet Standard. It is manufactured using a 0.15-micron CMOS process and is the smallest form factor, lowest power, 10Gbps Ethernet transceiver on the market today. For 10Gbps Ethernet applications, the device connects directly to optical modules that support the XAUI interface or to XAUI-based pluggable formats such as XENPAK and XPAK.
About the TOP 3010/5010
Optillion's fiber-optic 10 Gbit/s transceiver modules TOP 3010 (for up to 10 km link distance) and TOP 5010 (up to 40 km link distance) are highly integrated, complete Ethernet LAN PHY's. Optillion is currently sampling both the TOP 3010 and the TOP 5010.
