Ittiam Systems announces availability of its third generation H.265/HEVC codec with 422 12-bit support
August 13, 2014 -- Ittiam Systems, a leading licensor of H.265 (HEVC) codecs, announced the addition of 422 12-bit support to its Pristine Quality H.265/HEVC Main 10 encoder SDK making it one of the industry's first commercially licensable encoders with range extension. The range extension support is also available in Ittiam's professional H.265/HEVC decoder SDK and will be showcased at the upcoming IBC 2014.
Dr. Sriram Sethuraman, Ittiam Fellow and Chief Technology Officer, quoted, "With range extension and support up to visually lossless bit-rates, our H.265 encoder now enables multi-generation transcoding with minimal quality degradation that meets UHD post-production and authoring workflow needs. Coupled with our fast 2-pass VBR encoding technology, studios and content owners can now achieve significant archival and delivery efficiencies, without incurring a prohibitively high turn-around time."
