Algo-Logic Systems Launches High Performance Second Generation 100G Top-of-Rack (TOR) Switch for Datacenters
Altera and Algo-Logic Systems collaborate to deliver industry leading Top-of-Rack switching for rack-scale datacenter deployments.
Santa Clara, California, August 18, 2014 – Algo-Logic Systems, Inc., a recognized leader in providing Gateware Defined Networking (GDN)® products and solutions for datacenters, accelerated finance, and Internet of Things (IOT) industries, announces the launch of their 2nd generation GDN 100G Top-of-Rack (TOR) Switch capable of rack-scale service provisioning with load balancing on Altera 100G Stratix® V GX Board.
The Algo-Logic’s 2nd generation GDN 100G Top-of-Rack (TOR) Switches can selectively forward packets from a 40 Gbps or 100 Gbps input port to multiple 10 Gbps or 40 Gbps endpoints within and across datacenter racks. It also load balances and evenly distributes network traffic across servers with the same request. Network operators using GDN TOR Switch can substantially increase their network performance with not only high throughput but also reduce their network latency and power resulting in significantly lower datacenter Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The GDN TOR 100G Switch reference design performance metrics are listed below:
- Packet forwarding rate of 150 Million Packets Per Second (MPPS) per FPGA
- Highly efficient traffic forwarding to compute and storage servers nodes within and across racks
- Line-rate network interface speeds of 10GE, 40GE, and 100GE without dropping packets
- Latency of less than 1 microsecond which is ~45x less latency than with software sockets
- Power consumption rate of less than 0.12 micro-Joules/packet which is ~100x less than sockets
Algo-Logic’s 2nd generation GDN TOR Switches network traffic at 150 MPPS that enables the 100 Gbps packet forwarding rate in datacenters. It supports Network Function Virtualization (NFV) in Software-Defined Networks (SDNs) and allows optimized rack-scale Cloud providers to provision services in their networks.
"Altera enables high performance and power efficient solutions in datacenter and networking. We are proud to collaborate with Algo-Logic to build packet processing solutions on the 100G Stratix V GX board. Algo-Logic's GDN 100G TOR Switch is a leading edge solution which addresses networking and datacenter industry's bandwidth growth and processing complexity challenges. Our collective efforts make FPGA technology straightforward to deploy and demonstrate Altera FPGAs' performance with low latency, high throughput, and minimal power consumption," said Allen P. Chen, Altera's director of networking systems engineering.
“We are pleased to launch our industry leading GDN 100G TOR Switch that provides sub-microsecond packet forwarding capabilities to operators of Cloud service providers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Host Service Providers (HSPs), and security industries,” said John Lockwood, CEO of Algo-Logic Systems, Inc.
To enable rapid deployment of the 2nd Generation GDN 100G TOR Switch, Algo-Logic Systems will provide a hands-on Tutorial at the upcoming IEEE Hot Interconnects Symposium to be held at the Google Campus on August 28th. For more details, visit the HotI organization link at: http://www.hoti.org/
