Elliptic Technologies and CableLabs Brings Secure Premium Content Protection to Any Device
Update: Synopsys Expands Security Solutions with Acquisition of Elliptic Technologies (June 29, 2015)
Elliptic to Showcase CableLabs DLNA CVP-2 Reference Server using Elliptic’s tVault™ for DTCP-IP at IBC 2014
September 11, 2014 – Ottawa, Canada: Elliptic Technologies, a leading provider of embedded security solutions for the connected world, today announced their joint development with CableLabs to provide a reference implementation for DLNA’s CVP-2 (Commercial Video Profile - 2) specifications, now under the new brand of VidiPath Certification program, using Elliptic’s tVault™ for DTCP-IP content protection. Elliptic’s tVault™ for DTCP-IP (Digital Transmission Content Protection over Internet Protocol) provides a robust security technology for link protection of high-value video and audio content on connected consumer electronics such as smartphones, tablets, digital TVs, set top boxes, gaming and other media devices.
Elliptic Technologies and CableLabs will provide a CVP-2 server reference implementation that utilizes Elliptic’s deep security that is designed to comply with the VidiPath Certification program. This program is a set of mandatory guidelines published by Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) required to deploy premium TV services securely over the home network to multiple consumer devices. This required specification ensures premium content is protected from unauthorized copying and misappropriation and is a critical enabler for multi-screen viewing involving subscription content. tVault’s DTCP-IP solution ensures content is protected on all platforms by automatically negotiating between devices and enabling authentication to confirm that a client has been certified to the DLNA VidiPath Certification program.
“This is a very important standard for broadcasters and service providers and we are pleased to collaborate with CableLabs on the security design portion of the server reference implementation” said Vijay Dube, President & CEO of Elliptic Technologies. “Elliptic is at the forefront of new security specifications that enable sharing of premium content from any device with our flagship tVault technology.”
“We’ve been a leader in the development of the DLNA CVP-2 Guidelines, and we are pleased to now offer a server reference implementation,” said Tom Lookabough, Executive Vice President for R&D at CableLabs. “The server reference implementation will facilitate client testing, interoperability and the rollout of DLNA CVP-2 devices. The CableLabs reference implementation utilizes Elliptic Technologies tVault solution that enables secure, high-quality subscription experience on a wide variety of content viewing devices on the market.”
Elliptic will be showing how VidiPath can enable secure sharing of premium content using tVault™ at IBC 2014, at stand 5.B40 from September 11-16 in Amsterdam.
