Rambus Expands Cryptography Research Division Leadership Team
Appointments of Dr. Simon Blake-Wilson, Philippe Martineau, and Ron Perez strengthen industry-leading team
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – September 11, 2014 – Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ:RMBS), today announced the expansion of the Cryptography Research division leadership team, including Dr. Simon Blake-Wilson as vice president, Products and Marketing, Philippe Martineau as senior director of Ecosystem Business Development, and Ron Perez as Systems Security Fellow. These individuals bring significant security industry experience to the existing industry-leading Cryptography Research team, with the goal of scaling embedded security IP solutions and services to meet the growing demand for trusted solutions.

“These additions to the leadership team reinforce our commitment to bringing world-class embedded security IP, solutions and services to market,” said Dr. Martin Scott, senior vice president and general manager of the Cryptography Research division at Rambus. “We recently announced several milestone agreements with global leaders including Qualcomm, Microsemi, MStar and Entropic in addition to bringing our CryptoManager security feature management platform to market. These successes are creating the need to expand our core team to meet increasing demands and to continue our strong momentum.”
According to Paul Kocher, president and chief scientist of the Rambus Cryptography Research division, “Bringing aboard some of the brightest minds in the security industry will expand our ability to find innovative solutions to the tremendous challenges and opportunities in the area of data security.”
Dr. Simon Blake-Wilson is a researcher in wireless security and the co-inventor of EAPTTLS, a WLAN security solution. Prior to joining Rambus, he served in critical security roles including executive vice president of the Mobile Security Division and chief sales officer of Inside Secure SA, vice president of the Embedded Security Solutions division of AuthenTec and director of Business Development and Cryptographic Research at Certicom. Blake-Wilson’s background will aid in the next growth phase in security products and solutions.
Philippe Martineau joins the Rambus Worldwide Sales and Operations organization with a focus on mobile ecosystem and business development in the security space. With more than 20 years of experience, Martineau has served in various roles for both large and disruptive companies. Prior to joining Rambus, Martineau served as executive vice president of the NFC Business at Inside Secure SA where he set the strategy to position the organization in NFC with differentiating value. Previously, Martineau was predominantly focused on the development of product offerings for the operator community related to the SIM card and associated services when he served as vice president of Strategy at Gemplus. Involved in GSM standardization since 1989, Martineau has developed strong knowledge and connections within the industry that will be instrumental for security business development into the mobile ecosystem.
Ron Perez brings more than two and a half decades of experience in the information technology industry, having impacted a broad range of areas from semiconductors to cloud computing. Previously, Perez held positions as senior Fellow and senior director at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), where he established and led the Security Architecture organization. He also held senior technical positions at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center where he led the Systems Solutions and Architecture Department. In his new role, Perez will support the innovation growth opportunities for Cryptography Research.
