Elliptic Technologies to Speak at the Chip-to-Cloud Security Forum
Update: Synopsys Expands Security Solutions with Acquisition of Elliptic Technologies (June 29, 2015)
Elliptic CTO, Mike Borza to Present "The Trouble with Random" on September 25th, Marseille, France
September 24, 2014 – Ottawa, Canada -- Elliptic Technologies, a leading provider of embedded security solutions for the connected world, today announced that its Chief Technology Officer, Mike Borza will speak at the 2014 Chip-to-Cloud Security Forum in Marseille, France. Under the "Security Evaluation Techniques" track, Mr. Borza's talk entitled, "The Trouble with Random" addresses the importance of true random number generators as crucial elements for security and privacy on devices and systems; answers questions about the withdrawal of NIST SP 800-90; and looks at hardware and software implementations and their trade-offs.
The Chip-to-Cloud Security Forum event will bring together the full value chain of digital security to address the rising threats of our mobile and connected world. Academics, private researchers, security experts, trusted service providers, standardization bodies and associations join this independent collaboration and information sharing platform.
"I'm pleased to join this roster of reputable experts at this immersive digital security event," said Mike Borza, CTO of Elliptic Technologies. "Recognizing the growing Internet of Things (IoT) market as the ultimate convergence, and how data can easily be intercepted and devices can be hacked, it's important to understand the serious risks to businesses and consumers of weak RNGs."
Mike Borza is responsible for technology strategy, and has over 20 years of experience in the industry. Prior to his role as CTO and founder of Elliptic Technologies, Borza has been an active contributor to the Security Task Group of IEEE 802.1; was an editor of the 802.1AR Secure Device Identifier standard; and is a contributor to several security articles and publications such as EECatalog, Embedded Computing Design, and Beecham's report on M2M Solution Security.
Elliptic is known for its broad range of hardware and software security IP that allows customers and partners to implement secure, trusted platforms and networks, including secure boot, secure networking, product anti-cloning and anti-counterfeiting, entertainment content protection and other advanced security solutions.

About Elliptic's TRNG Product Offering
- CLP-890: Elliptic's CLP-890 Smart RNG is a high performance "Live, Enhanced" Non-deterministic Random Number Generator, fully compliant with the NIST SP-800c draft standard. The core combines a NIST SP 800-90b approved conditioning circuit with a NIST SP 800-90b compliant noise source and NIST SP 800-90a approved Deterministic Random Number Generator. This provides high speed operation while generating an Independent and Identically Distributed (IID) random sequence of bits. The noise source does not depend on process-specific circuitry and is therefore very portable across different ASIC and FPGA fabrication technologies.
- CLP-850: Elliptic's CLP-850 Smart TRNG provides a high performance "Live, Full Entropy Source" by combining a NIST SP 800-90b approved conditioning circuit with a noise source that may be used to seed a random number stream as well as provide an ongoing source of entropy. The noise source does not depend on process-specific circuitry and is therefore very portable across different ASIC and FPGA fabrication technologies. The CLP-850 is also compliant with the AIS-20 and -31 specifications.
- CLP-800: Elliptic's CLP-800 Smart TRNG is optimized for size, power and ease of use and provides a "Live, Conditioned Digitized Noise Source". The implementation is compatible with stock digital standard cell processes and can easily be tuned for a specific target library/process at the customer's request.
