Marvell's Total Cloud Platform Solution Powers the World's First Dedicated ARM-Based High Density Cloud Server from Online.net Labs
Online.net Labs and Marvell collaborate to launch a new cloud platform to address the fast growing needs for next generation application hosting servers
Santa Clara, California -- November 3, 2014 – Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced that the Marvell® ARMADA®-XP System-on-Chip (SoC), Prestera® DX Switch and Alaska®-X 10GbE PHY solutions have been selected by Online.net Labs, the hosting subsidiary of a leading French telecom company, Iliad S.A., to support the world’s first dedicated ARM-based cloud platform. By incorporating Marvell technologies, Online.net Labs’ advanced platform technology can address the fast growing needs for next generation application hosting servers. Marvell and Online.net Labs’ partnership also demonstrates Marvell’s continued leadership in powering cloud-based platforms. This platform will be powering Online.net Labs’ hosting services in Europe and the United States by early 2015.

The new Online.net Labs cloud server is based on Marvell’s quad-core ARM CPU with 2GB of RAM and Multiple 1 Gbit/s network and SATA ports that offers users the ability to design, snapshot, image and scale servers, providing users on-demand storage, movable IPs and an S3 compatible object storage service. This also is the world’s first hosting provider to offer a dedicated ARM-based cloud platform supported by the Marvell ARMADA-XP SoC, the Marvell Alaska-X physical layer (10GbE PHY) transceivers and Prester-DX switches and is supported by the Linux community. Built for hyperscale applications, Online.net Labs’ platform is mature and fully supported by Ubuntu Server for ARM operating system, including LAMP stack, Docker, Puppet, Juju, Hadoop, MAAS, and more.
ARMADA-XP series delivers the best performance per watt to empower emerging cloud computing applications ranging from high performance networking and cloud servers to high-volume SOHO/home server products like Network Attached Storage (NAS) and media servers. The Alaska X devices are optimized for 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications transceivers supporting copper media with advanced high-speed Ethernet connectivity products. Alaska X design for host of equipment types, ranging from data center and enterprise switches to storage and server equipment. In addition, Alaska X designed to deliver 10Gbps Ethernet connectivity over unshielded twisted-pair copper cabling adhering to structured wiring rules and distances in excess of 100 meters.
