Telechips Partners with Sansa Security to Enable Digital Rights Management (DRM) for New Hexa-Based TCC896x Chipset
Partnership Provides Carriers, Services Providers and Over-the-Top Set-Top-Box Manufacturers with a Trusted Execution Environment That Complies with Hollywood DRM Standards
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, CES 2015 -- January 6, 2015 — Telechips, Inc. and Sansa Security, today announced a partnership that enables digital rights management (DRM) for Telechips’ new Hexa-based TCC896x chipset. The partnership, announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) taking place in Las Vegas from January 6-9, enables Telechips to provide a trusted execution environment (TEE) that complies with Hollywood studio standards.
The TCC896x chipset is a high-performance 3D accelerator and video processor that will be integrated into Telechips’ TCC896x Smart Stick. The Smart Stick will initially be incorporated into carrier and service provider set-top boxes and, over time, the technology is expected to migrate into additional over-the-top (OTT) set-top-box solutions that require protected content delivery.
“Our TCC896x chipset was designed for over-the-top TV, video on demand (VoD) and mobile content services, device manufacturers and service providers that require content protection that is studio-approved, yet flexible enough to support multiple business models and new use cases,” said Andrew Lee, director of marketing for Telechips, Inc. “Sansa Security’s trustlet-based DRM technology helps to meet those requirements, and its reference designs ensure R & D cost savings and a fast time to market.”
Trustlets are TEE-based secure applications that are pre-integrated with Telechips silicon. The technology is designed to protect payments, premium full-HD video content and other security-sensitive applications, and it is currently deployed across a quarter-of-a-billion devices with multiple programs at top-tier mobile device manufacturers, consumer electronics OEMs and carriers.
“Implementing content protection is extremely complex and always evolving, and has rigorous requirements to make sure content rights are never compromised,” said Yossi Hermush, vice president of products for Sansa Security. “Telechips’ TCC896x chipset provides the performance, flexibility and security required by Hollywood studios and today’s set-top box manufacturers. We are pleased to welcome Telechips into our growing customer family.”
