Mobiveil, Inc. and M31 Technology Announce A Compliant PCI Express PHY and Controller Solution
Compliant Combo PHY-Controller Solution Addresses Asia’s fast growing Consumer, Mobile markets
MILPITAS, CA—Hsinchu, Taiwan—Jan. 14, 2015—Mobiveil, Inc., a fast growing supplier of silicon intellectual property, platforms and IP-enabled engineering services together with Hsinchu, Taiwan-based M31 Technology, a global Intellectual Property boutique, jointly announced completion of a compliant PCI Express® (PCIe®) 2.0 IP solution for designers building system on chip solutions (SOC) for the fast growing mobile and consumer markets in Asia. Mobiveil’s PCIe 2.0 controller and M31’s PCle 2.0 PHY drop into standard RTL design flow. The Mobiveil and M31 offering meets the full speed of 5 gigatransfers per second (GT/s) performance for PCIe 2.0 technology.
Mobiveil's PCI Express controller is part of its High Speed Serial Interconnect family of IP solutions that also includes PCI Express 3.0 technology solutions, Gen3/2 RapidIO, NVM Express, 10G/1G Ethernet MACs, PCI Express Bridge and Switch solutions. Mobiveil IPs offer the most feature-rich, power-efficient, highly interoperable and silicon-proven solutions for different form factors to provide the optimum balance between power and performance.
“M31 is delighted working with Mobiveil to achieve a compliant PCIe 2.0 IP solution which serves our growing customer base in Asia,” said M31 Technology Corp. Chairman Hsiao-Ping Lin. “Engineering a PCIe 2.0 PHY, because of its high speed, requires specialized engineering expertise. Our PHY eases integration and silicon validation. The IP also provides compact die size and pad counts to increase the competitiveness of SoC designers’ PCIe 2.0 applications. Our PHY IP operates on 1.2V to ensure designers have no power distribution issues and it supports PCIe PIPE power-saving modes P0, P0s, P1, and P2 for ultra-low power operation. The PHY’s adaptive equalizer minimizes wide range channel loss.”
"We are thrilled to partner with M31,” said Ravi Thummarukudy, CEO of Mobiveil. “M31’s strength in PHY design and Mobiveil’s long-time expertise in high-speed serial interface controller design made this a perfect match to serve the growing consumer and mobile SoC design activity in Asia. With time to market intense in these markets, SoC designers need a compliant solution. When considering the licensing of interface IP, especially PCIe technology, the overriding concern is having an IP solution that is compliant with the specifications and if it drops into a standard design flow.”
“We’re pleased that Mobiveil and M31 have partnered to provide a PCIe 2.0 compliant solution,” said Al Yanes, PCI-SIG President and Chairman. “Their support of the PCI Express architecture enables further adoption of this technology within the consumer and mobile markets.”
