Silicon Vision and Mindtree Enable Next Generation IoT Devices with Bluetooth Smart 4.2
London, UK and Warren, NJ, USA, February 24, 2015 - Silicon Vision Technologies Ltd. a low power wireless intellectual property (IP) company and Mindtree a global technology services company announced the availability of fully integrated Bluetooth Smart 4.2 solution that includes Silicon Vision’s silicon proven, Bluetooth SIG certified Radio Transceiver IP and Mindtree’s qualified Bluetooth Smart v4.2 link layer, protocol stack and profiles.
Recently the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has adopted version 4.2 of the Bluetooth core specification, introducing improvements to the security of the technology that mean Bluetooth beacons are now unable to engage with smartphones without permission from the user and making it harder for eavesdroppers to track a device via its Bluetooth connection. The new specification also increases the speed and reliability of data transfers between Bluetooth Smart devices and reduces both battery consumption and opportunities for transmission errors to occur.
“With our silicon proven Bluetooth Smart Radio IP, we are empowering the next-generation of low power connected devices that are set to revolutionize the world towards Internet of Things (IoT) market”, said Mohamed Mohsen, VP of Business Development, Silicon Vision.
Jayanth Krishna, Director - Short-range Wireless, Mindtree, said, " The highly configurable and flexible interface of Mindtree’s IP enabled a seamless integration with Silicon Vision’s RF. Customers can now use the superior pre-integrated solutions, de-risk their products and launch the products faster even in the extremely dynamic markets such as IoT and wearables"
Mindtree is in its 15th year of offering a comprehensive portfolio of Bluetooth intellectual property solutions and a range of design, engineering, testing and consulting services to semiconductor vendors and OEMs. The IP portfolio includes certified, customizable, ultra-low power and footprint silicon IP for Bluetooth® Smart 4.1 and 4.2, and ultra-compact, complete certified portfolio of protocol stack and profiles IP for Bluetooth® Smart 4.1 and 4.2.
