Vanguard Video to Showcase its new HEVC Codec with Imagine Communications at NAB 2015
Las Vegas, NV – April 13, 2015 - Vanguard Video, a leading provider of HEVC and H.264 codec technologies, will release version 3.0 of their professional HEVC software codec, V.265, at NAB 2015 (South Hall; SU8525). V.265 v3.0 provides significant low-latency optimizations to support encodes as low as 2 frames and adds support for GOP-aligned adaptive bit-rate (ABR) multistreaming, making it one of the most robust codec SDKs on the market for both real-time and live streaming applications. In addition, V.265 v3.0 provides API enhancements for granular level access to frame-level and region-of-interest parameters capable of complete support for external rate control integration.
"We are proud to see V.265 continue to deliver outstanding performance and maintain its market leadership as one of the most commercially deployed HEVC codec SDKs," said Raul Diaz, Vanguard Video CEO. "With two major feature additions, ABR and low-latency support, V.265 positions itself as the leading video codec for both the broadcast and live streaming markets."
"Vanguard Video’s V.265 codec SDK is an integral part of the Zenium™ ecosystem and this third generation offers versatile libraries that can be applied to both real-time and offline applications, giving the Zenium™ workflow manager even more control and flexibility," said Brick Eksten, vice president product strategy, networking and distribution, Imagine Communications. "We are proud to work with Vanguard Video as they continue to deliver professional-grade codecs that integrate seamlessly into our expansive and agile software engine."
A list of new features for V.265 v3.0 is summarized below:
- GOP- Aligned, Adaptive Bit-Rate (ABR) Multistreaming Support
Produce multiple output streams of different resolutions and bitrates from a single source and encoding instance for effective ABR delivery
- Optimized Low-latency Encoder and Decoder
Achieve real-time quality, low-latency encodes as low as 2 frames
- Rate Control Synchronization for GOP-parallel Encoding
Improved video quality on chunk boundaries of GOP-parallel encoding in Vanguard Video’s distributed encoding architecture
- API for frame level, external RC and ROI control
Gain complete control and customize the HEVC encoder with your application requirements
- Significant Algorithmic Improvements
Adaptive complexity-based preprocessing and intelligent RDO
