World's first public demonstrations of V-Nova's PERSEUSR video compression at NAB Show 2015
London -- April 13, 2015 - V-Nova Ltd., a leading provider of video compression solutions, announced that visitors at NAB Show 2015 (Las Vegas, April 13-16) will have the opportunity to see the World's first live public demonstrations of its ground breaking PERSEUSR video compression technology.
Visitors at NAB Show 2015 will witness the public debut of PERSEUS-enabled V-Nova products, first announced on April 1 (http://www.v-nova.com/en/press.html). V-Nova's PERSEUS advanced video compression technology enables broadcasters and operators to differentiate their products, increase market penetration, and provide previously and otherwise undeliverable services.
David Mercer, VP, Principle Analyst, Strategy Analytics commented,"PERSEUS can be used to improve the efficiency of video distribution to future set-top boxes, OTT devices and mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. It could have a major impact both in UHD distribution and in extending the quality and reach of OTT video services on both wireless and fixed line networks"
"The TV industry is facing one of its most disruptive periods ever, as growing consumer demand for high quality video on every screen puts pressure on legacy technologies, infrastructure and business models. The coming together of global broadcasters in Las Vegas is an opportunity to take a hard look at the industry's future," added Guido Meardi, V-Nova CEO & Co-founder. "The inspiration for V-Nova arose from the observation that legacy compression technologies, which were designed for the early chips of the 1970's and 1980's, were no longer fit for purpose. We are excited to debut our industry advancing PERSEUS technology at NAB."
PERSEUS has been developed and tested over the past five years within a growing consortium of over 20 global industry leaders. Visitors at NAB can see cutting edge demonstrations at the booths of select V-Nova partners:
- Hitachi Data Systems (SL 3910) will be showing currently deployed PERSEUS-powered Hitachi Data Systems broadcast contribution solutions
- Encompass Digital Media (SU 3421) will be ready to discuss PERSEUS-enabled next generation services from high quality real-time connectivity to OTT distribution
- Elber (SU 3710) will be showing currently deployed PERSEUS-powered HD and UHD contribution products
- VisualOn will showcase how its PERSEUS-enabled media player provides distribution of next generation services on a wide variety of connected devices
Demonstrations in VisualOn private suite can be scheduled by contacting VisualOn directly
"We have been working intensively for years within a consortium of expert partners to ensure that we bring our PERSEUS technology to the market in the form of tested products, ready to benefit operators and TV service providers using existing infrastructure, workflows and hardware. In order to meet the broad spectrum of our partners' and customers' needs, PERSEUS is offered in the form of appliances, embedded software and codec plug-ins. At NAB we will showcase these products across the entire range of video delivery, from contribution to distribution on connected devices," concluded Eric Achtmann, V-Nova Executive Chairman & Co-founder.
