Squid Systems Announces Industry Leading Real-Time 4K UHD HEVC Encode Solution at NABShow 2015
Real-time 4K60 UHD HEVC Encode at Half the Bit-Rate of H.264
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Apr. 13, 2015 -- Squid Systems today announced availability of real-time 4K60 UHD HEVC encoder software that achieves bit rate reductions of 50% compared to mature H.264 encoders, while providing visual quality comparable to that produced by the ITU H.265 committee HM reference encoder.
Squid's patent-pending algorithmic innovations in the areas of Prediction, Mode Decisions, Reference Frame Selection, Frame Partitioning, Rate Control and highly parallel algorithms enable Squid HEVC encoders to achieve industry leading visual quality at the lowest bit rates. The Squid HEVC encoder supports Main-8 and Main-10 profiles, resolutions ranging from 720 to 4K UHD, and multi-channel encode densities at a range of quality levels on Intel Xeon processors.
Squid's HEVC encoders are targeted for applications including Over-the-Top (OTT) video streaming, Video Conferencing, 4Kp60 UHD encoding for Blu-Ray, Broadcast head-end equipment, and Surveillance servers.
"As Consumers are demanding streaming video in HD and 4K UHD resolutions on multiple screens, the bandwidth needed to carry consumer video will quickly overwhelm available bandwidth while significantly increasing the content delivery costs for Service Providers," said Squid Systems V.P of Products and Marketing, Dr. Renga Sundararajan. "Squid is pleased to provide the highest visual quality HEVC encoder technology that cuts video bitrates in half, thereby enabling high-definition video streaming at significantly reduced cost." he stated.
Demonstrations at NAB Show
Squid will demonstrate its real-time 4K60 UHD HEVC encoder at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, from April 13 to April 16, in South Hall Upper meeting room SU11325MR. Interested parties are invited to contact mkt@squidsystems to arrange a private demonstration.
