Microsemi and Sibridge Technologies Collaborate to Develop Portfolio of High-speed Protocol IPs for SmartFusion2 and IGLOO2 FPGAs
Microsemi Selects Sibridge Technologies as CompanionCore Provider
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. and SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 2, 2015 -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq: MSCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, and Sibridge Technologies, a leading provider of design and verification IPs, with expertise in ASIC/SoC design, verification and embedded solutions, today announced the release of a suite of high-speed IP cores targeting Microsemi's SmartFusion®2 SoC FPGAs and IGLOO®2 FPGAs.
This extends Microsemi's prior engagement with Sibridge Technologies by adding Sibridge as an approved CompanionCore provider. The CompanionCore program offers a wide selection of synthesizable IP cores that are licensed, supported and maintained directly by Microsemi partners.
"Partnering with Sibridge Technologies provides us access to a comprehensive portfolio of design IPs, verification IPs and custom solutions," said Shakeel Peera, senior director of FPGA/SoC marketing for Microsemi. "Sibridge Technologies enables our customers to develop high-speed interface designs by providing and integrating IP cores in designs and verifying multiple instances in a timely and cost-effective manner."
Microsemi has previously collaborated with the company by utilizing its triple-speed Ethernet media access controller (MAC), USB2.0 OTG controller, as well as PCI Express IP and verification IP suites from Sibridge Technologies, for Microsemi's highly successful SmartFusion2 and IGLOO2 FPGA families. Sibridge Technologies is now working to add support for USB3.0 host and device controller, 10 gigabit Ethernet MAC, SATA Gen 1/2 host and device controllers, CAN2.0 network controller, and eMMC host controller for Microsemi FPGAs as part of Microsemi's CompanionCore program.
"Microsemi has been our strategic customer for multiple years now. Our teams have optimized multiple cores for Microsemi devices, streamlining the design process, shortening time-to-market, and reducing design costs and risks," said Rajesh Shah, CEO, Sibridge Technologies.
Sibridge Technologies provides value based services and solutions in the ASIC/FPGA and embedded space. The company has enabled more than 50 customers in the semiconductor and product development space. Microsemi previously adopted Sibridge Technologies' IP portfolio for customer engagement and now these cores, listed on Microsemi website, are proven, pre-built IP cores optimized for use in Microsemi devices and tools. Microsemi's SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs
SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs integrate inherently reliable flash-based FPGA fabric, a 166 megahertz (MHz) ARM Cortex-M3 processor, advanced security processing accelerators, DSP blocks, SRAM, eNVM and industry-required high performance communication interfaces, all on a single chip. Microsemi's SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs are designed to address fundamental requirements for advanced security, high reliability and low power in critical communications, industrial, defense, aviation and medical applications.
Microsemi's IGLOO2 FPGAs
Microsemi's IGLOO2 FPGAs continue the company's focus on addressing the needs of today's cost-optimized FPGA markets by providing a LUT based fabric, 5Gbps transceivers, high speed GPIO, block RAM, a high-performance memory subsystem, and DSP blocks in a differentiated, cost and power optimized architecture. This next generation IGLOO2 architecture offers up to five times more logic density and three times more fabric performance than its predecessors and combines a non-volatile flash based fabric with the highest number of general purpose I/Os, 5Gbps SERDES interfaces and PCI Express end points when compared to other products in its class. IGLOO2 FPGAs offer best-in-class feature integration coupled with the lowest power, highest reliability and most advanced security in the industry.
