Cypress Introduces Low-Cost USB 2.0 Transceiver
EZ-USB® TX2 Enables Design Flexibility and Fast Time-to-Market; Targets High-Speed Imaging and Video Applications
SAN JOSE, Calif., August 19, 2002 – Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE: CY)--the industry leader in USB--today announced the availability of EZ-USB® TX2 (CY7C68000), the latest addition to its rapidly expanding USB 2.0 product portfolio. TX2 is a stand-alone high-speed USB 2.0 transceiver that is compliant with the USB 2.0 Transceiver Macrocell Interface (UTMI) specification. This device includes a 8- or 16-bit interface for applications such as scanners, printers, digital camcorders, and digital still cameras.
"With the continued competition in the USB markets, design time and cost become primary issues for many engineers," said Jeff Chang, product marketing manager for Cypress's Personal Communications Division. "By offering a UTMI-compliant transceiver with proven analog technology, Cypress is able to provide a low-risk, low-cost, fast time-to-market solution, especially for designers who need an integration path."
The CY7C68000 has successfully passed the full suite of compliance tests set by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF). This device will be added to the USB-IF Integrators List, signifying to USB developers that it has met the strict specifications for USB 2.0 devices, further adding to Cypress's USB-IF certified family of products.
