IP-Maker NVMe Compliant Solution for Software Defined Storage
To be presented at Flash Memory Summit
July 13th, 2015, Aix-en-Provence, France - IP-Maker, the leading company in NVM Express (NVMe) technology, presents a NVMe software defined storage (SDS) solution, featuring a NVMe compliant interface, low latency, low power and design flexibility.
"At IP-Maker, we understand the future challenges of storage infrastructure", said Mickael Guyard, Product Marketing Director. "We think that software defined storage is a smart solution for storage resources management in a complex IT infrastructure. Our compliant NVMe solution is a perfect answer thanks to its optimized design, allowing an ultra-low latency, which is a key factor of success for SDS."
The NVMe solution from IP-Maker is available as a full hardware IP to be integrated in a FPGA or ASIC. It has successfully passed the NVMe compliance test at the UNH-IOL. It delivers down to 10µs latency. FPGAs, which are more and more popular in data centers, providing both hardware design flexibility and high performances.
The integration of the NVMe IP in a FPGA provides a flexible and low latency NVMe interface with a better IOPS efficiency (3x less power/IOPS) compared to ASIC-based SSD controllers. This approach allows an easier design of storage systems for SDS integration, including PCIe SSD, HBA, or any custom storage systems.
